When looking at the fourth generation crossover, it is difficult to get rid of the idea that you are being offered significantly more than before the upgrade. This feeling is partly due to the increased dimensions (length, width and height added 10 mm each), and the wheelbase increased immediately by 35 mm, to 2815 mm), but even more so due to a change in style. If the predecessor was distinguished by calm contours<\/a>, more characteristic of minivans than crossovers, now healthy aggression has been added to the exterior. Suspensions in all cases are multi-link, sharpened for active driving on asphalt. At the same time, the ground clearance remained typical for urban crossovers – 176 mm, but the geometric cross-country ability still improved due to the reduction of body overhangs.<\/p>\n The new 2.2-litre heavy-fuel engine turns the Sorento into a dynamic, driving family car. The torque reserve is enough for almost any situation in the city and on the high-speed highway, and from the throttle response of the car when you press the gas, you catch a real buzz.<\/strong><\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n At the same time, in order to understand which modification is in front of you, it is not even necessary to look at the nameplates. Salon will be a litmus test. For more expensive diesel cars, a washer a la Jaguar of past generations is mounted on the central tunnel, and immediately after it is a Terrain Mode toggle switch with Mud (dirt), Snow (snow) and Sand (sand) algorithms. However, as in other KIA models, the wow effect directly depends on the configuration hierarchy. For example, if in the initial versions it is proposed that it is perfectly readable, but, whatever one may say, not too modern analog “tidy”, then in more expensive versions we already have a virtual shield, which displays an image from the side cameras. There is another “watershed”: in all trim levels, except for the top-end Premium and Premium +, a foot-operated parking brake is provided. In the “top” we get a compact electromechanical “handbrake”.<\/p>\n The multimedia complex is emphatically modern. For top versions, it comes with a 10.25-inch display that allows you to select and remember settings profiles for different drivers and connect gadgets via Android Auto and Apple CarPlay. The list of options also includes atmospheric lighting, a head-up display with an indication of speed, cruise<\/a> control data and security<\/a> systems. In general, in terms of electronic guides, this KIA has added very much. In addition to the adaptive cruise, the lane control system and blind spots, you can order, for example, such a rare gadget on our market as remote car parking. With the seats of the second and third rows folded down, the “hold” increases to more than impressive 2011 hp. At the same time, with such a transformation, we get an almost perfectly flat floor, trimmed with soft pile.<\/p>\n In terms of electronic guides, the new Sorento has added a lot. It would seem that only 199 liters. s., where does the explosive dynamics come from! However, there is also 440 Nm of torque, which turns the Sorento into a dynamic, driving family car. The torque reserve is enough for almost any situation in the city and on the high-speed highway, and from the throttle response of the car when you press the gas, you catch a real buzz. Since, unlike the gasoline version, the diesel does not need to be twisted into a “ring” for fast overtaking, a heavy-fuel car paradoxically behaves quieter than a gasoline one when driving actively. The characteristic diesel rumble can be a little tense, except at idle.<\/p>\n Off-road, which is also not surprising, the diesel option is also preferable. It's not even about the 208 Nm advantage in traction, but about the presence of the aforementioned Terrain Mode adaptation system. Our experiments have shown that a diesel car with an activated “Mud” or “Sand” mode will pass where a gasoline Sorento without such an assistant is almost guaranteed to stall and burrow. By the way, off-road presets will apply not only to the mechanisms of the stabilization system, which push back the degree of slippage and allow the SUV to simulate wheel locks, but also to the settings of the steering wheel and transmission.<\/p>\n Course stability at speed, meanwhile, is high, the reaction to steering turns is distinct, albeit with some delay. However, again, diesel cars in the Premium + configuration steer more interestingly than the rest of the Sorento, since their electric power is mounted on the steering rack, and not on the shaft.<\/p>\n As for comfort and smoothness, everything here has remained approximately the same. The suspension is tuned in German tight, but still not hard. The chassis filters out “small things” well, but is unable to smooth out large pits and ledges. In any case, if you're looking for more ride comfort, don't go out of your way and opt for basic 18-inch wheels over the showy top-end 20-inch ones. With the first Sorento predictably rides softer.<\/p>\n Well, what about the price issue? With a price fork of 2,149,900\u20133,149,900 conventional units, the list of competitors includes both the slightly smaller Nissan X-Trail and Mitsubishi Outlander, and the commensurate Toyota Highlander and Mazda CX-9. At the same time, one cannot but rejoice at the fact that, in comparison with its predecessor, the KIA Sorento Prime, prices have risen moderately.
