According to preliminary data, a hatchback with a different design<\/a> will enter the market next year. It is possible that the “five-door” will retain the “aspirated”, while a new hybrid version is still tipped for it.<\/p>\n

The Hatch, for which the name Baleno was revived (in the 90s there was a whole family with that name in the Suzuki lineup), has been produced since 2015. The model was conceived as global, even the possibility of its appearance in recent times was considered. But it never reached us, Baleno did not take root in Europe either: in this region, sales were finally curtailed last year. But in India, where the main production site is located (Maruti Suzuki, the “daughter” of the Japanese company, is responsible for the release), the “five-door” is in high demand. So, according to local media, almost 94,000 cars were sold there in the first half of the year (then sales collapsed, but this is not a lack of interest, but a shortage of semiconductors). And here comes the new Baleno.<\/p>\n

The disguised hatch was caught on Indian roads at the end of summer, a photo of the test prototype was published by MotorBeam. And now the interior has been declassified, and there is not a shred of camouflage inside: footage from the interior appeared on the Harsh Vlogs YouTube channel. By the way, two years ago the “five-door” was modernized, but then there were few new things. This time, the model has been worked on more thoroughly, that is, it is possible that Suzuki will position such a Baleno as the next generation.<\/p>\n

Judging by the spy photos, the silhouette is the same, but the sweeping headlights will be replaced by optics with a predatory squint, the rear lights are also new – horizontal instead of rounded. Others will be bumpers with a grille. But the hatchback will change the most inside: there is a new front panel, a climate control unit and a steering wheel, and the touchscreen of the multimedia system now “floats”, which is why the central air vents had to be moved lower (the current Baleno has them on the sides of the tablet).<\/p>\n

Local profile media believe that in India the model will retain the petrol four-cylinder naturally aspirated 1.2, on the current hatch it produces 83 hp, the engine is combined with a five-speed “mechanics” or a variator. The pre-reform Suzuki Baleno with a manual gearbox can also have a hybrid add-on in the form of a starter-generator (in this case, the engine produces 90 hp). At the same time, some publications are still predicting a more powerful hybrid version of the model – apparently, it means that the hatch can be turned into a “full-fledged” hybrid.<\/p>\n

The new Suzuki Baleno is expected to be on sale at the beginning of next year, although it may well celebrate the premiere in 2021 (or the company will distribute the first teasers). The current hatch in India costs from 599,000 rupees, which is equivalent to about 579,000 conventional units at the current exchange rate.<\/p>\n

Meanwhile, Baleno already has two clones under the Toyota brand: in the same India, they still sell Toyota Glanza, and in Africa, the five-door Toyota Starlet is presented.<\/p><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
