The day after the official introduction of the new Mazda CX-50 compact crossover for North America, unofficial images of the larger CX-60 crossover, whose main markets will be Europe and Japan, appeared online.<\/p>\n

Mazda announced in October that it would introduce five all-new crossovers over the next two years that have no predecessors. Three crossovers – CX-50, CX-70 and CX-90 – are primarily intended for the North American market, although they may appear outside of it (for example, recently). Crossovers CX-60 and CX-80 are intended for Europe, Japan and other markets with similar consumer priorities.<\/p>\n

The CX-60, CX-70, CX-80 and CX-90 crossovers share the fact that they are built on a new modular platform with a longitudinal internal combustion engine and basic rear-wheel drive. Mazda announced this platform in 2019 along with a new family of 6-cylinder inline petrol and diesel engines that will also be offered in hybrid powertrains. New engines and a “longitudinal” platform should finally move the Mazda brand into the premium segment, making it a full-fledged competitor to Acura, Infiniti and Lexus, as well as German Audi, BMW and Mercedes-Benz. Prices, of course, will rise, but consumer qualities, as Mazda promises, will not disappoint.<\/p>\n

Mazda's next preview appears to be the CX-60 mid-size SUV, filmed on a mountain road in Japan during a corporate photo shoot: two crossovers, white with chrome trim and red with glossy black, had model index plates instead of numbers. A video with them at the time of our publication was available on the CSK Review YouTube channel.<\/p>\n

Unofficial images are not of the best quality, but still allow us to evaluate the design<\/a> features of the upcoming novelty: a long hood and a short front overhang are characteristic features of a model with a longitudinally mounted engine. At the same time, the CX-60 has a more refined street aesthetic than off-road, like the junior CX-50 crossover with its brutal black plastic body kit, rounded wheel arches and the desire to compete with Subaru. Network commentators have already noted that the CX-60 has a heavy channel, but we would not like to rush to conclusions and waited for proprietary images – perhaps from some angles such a tape will look quite elegant.<\/p>\n

The CX-60 will be offered exclusively in a 5-seat version, while the larger CX-80 crossover will be a 7-seat three-row. The American CX-70 and CX-90 will also have 5 and 7 seats respectively, but they will be larger (especially wider) than their Euro-Japanese relatives and perhaps have a more off-road aesthetic in the vein of the CX-50.<\/p>\n

The official premiere date of the Mazda CX-60 has not yet been announced, but we believe that due to a leak, this could happen as early as this year with a promise to start sales in 2022.<\/p><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
