Hello, dear subscribers and readers of the channel! Late 1920s – mid 1930s. in the Soviet Union, many cars of their own production appeared. I propose to calculate how many models were developed by current engineers, and how many were bought abroad and went down in history under domestic brands. So, let's begin.<\/p>\n

AMO-F-15<\/h3>\n

Prototype: Fiat 15 Ter (model 1912) Fiat provided the AMO plant with engineering and design<\/a> assistance in organizing production in 1924-1929.<\/p>\n

GAS A<\/h3>\n

Prototype: Ford Model A. Equipment and documentation for the construction of a new plant and the production of the car were purchased in 1929 from the Ford Motor Co. The model was produced at the Gorky Automobile Plant from 1932 to 1936.<\/p>\n

GAZ AA “Lorry”<\/h3>\n

Prototype: 1930 Ford Model A. Manufacturing rights purchased in the US from Ford Motor Company. Produced since 1932. Many sources say that after modernization in 1938, the truck received a 50-horsepower GAZ-MM engine of domestic production. It was actually a Ford Model B engine.<\/p>\n

It is mistakenly written on the Internet that the GAZ M-1 represented the “second generation of GAZ passenger cars” and was the “successor” of the GAZ-A model. In fact, the model was bought from Ford, like its predecessors.<\/p>\n

Prototype: Truck Model SA Manufacturer: American company Autocar Company. The first batch was assembled in 1933. Production continued until 1958. The model has undergone many modifications.<\/p>\n

ZIS 101 (prestigious passenger car)<\/h3>\n

Prototype: a car of the upper middle class of the American company Budd Co. Buick-32-90 models. For its production in 1936, by order of the Soviet government, Budd Co. converted a plant that once belonged to the Ryabushinsky-Kuznetsov company.<\/p>\n

Produced at the former plant of the Ryabushinsky-Kuznetsov company, re-equipped and expanded by A. J. Brandt, Wadd Co. and Hamilton Foundry.<\/p>\n

Time to take stock<\/h3>\n

As you can see, in the above list there is not a single Soviet car created by domestic design ideas and built on domestic machines and production lines. All of them were bought in the West and, first of all, in the USA.<\/p>\n

What is the conclusion from this? Do we really need to sprinkle ashes on our heads and burn with shame from this fact? In no way. In the engineering and technological plan of the USSR in the 1920-1930s. seriously lagged behind the most developed countries. Therefore, buying advanced technologies from them was the only right step.<\/p>\n
