It was built by the Northamptonshire-based RML group, founded in 1984 and well known in the automotive world. RML develops racing cars and also takes on custom projects for the automotive industry. For example, it was this company that commissioned Nissan to build prototypes of the Nissan Juke-R and Infiniti Q50 Eau Rouge (both filled with GT-R coupes), and also participated in the <a href=\"\/recomendet-appsumo\" class=\"sds-arl\">development<\/a> of the Aston Martin Vulcan hypercar. The new short-wheelbase RML retro coupe is the first RML Group vehicle with its own brand and logos.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/auto.inform.com.de\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/04\/post-197592-624ffac130736.webp\" data-rel=\"lightbox\"><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"SDStudio-light-box-enable SDStudio-editor-tools-md-imp\" src=\"https:\/\/auto.inform.com.de\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/04\/post-197592-624ffac130736.webp\" alt=\"First RML Short Wheelbase retro coupe built\"><\/a><\/p>\n<p>The supercar is styled after a 1959 Ferrari 250 GT SWB coupe and is based on a 1996 Ferrari 550 Maranello built to automotive industry standards.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/auto.inform.com.de\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/04\/post-197592-624ffac242b4c.webp\" data-rel=\"lightbox\"><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"SDStudio-light-box-enable SDStudio-editor-tools-md-imp\" src=\"https:\/\/auto.inform.com.de\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/04\/post-197592-624ffac242b4c.webp\" alt=\"First RML Short Wheelbase retro coupe built\"><\/a><\/p>\n<p>The 2500mm wheelbase steel chassis is retained, although the original 250 GT SWB had a 2400mm wheelbase. The double-wishbone suspensions remain all round, but instead of the Bilstein adaptive dampers that were standard on the Ferrari 550 Maranello, \u00d6hlins passive dampers are installed. Accordingly, new springs and stabilizers appeared, and 18-inch alloy wheels were developed specifically for the RML short-wheelbase coupe.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/auto.inform.com.de\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/04\/post-197592-624ffac35d84d.webp\" data-rel=\"lightbox\"><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"SDStudio-light-box-enable SDStudio-editor-tools-md-imp\" src=\"https:\/\/auto.inform.com.de\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/04\/post-197592-624ffac35d84d.webp\" alt=\"First RML Short Wheelbase retro coupe built\"><\/a><\/p>\n<p>The body is made of carbon fiber and resistance calculations were carried out on it, including with imitation of rollover. The naked body weighs 40 kg compared to the 70 kg of the Maranello donor. All exterior panels are covered in paint, but in some unpainted areas, such as on the doors, carbon fiber can be seen. And in order to give the car canonical proportions, it was necessary to noticeably shorten the front overhang, which is too big for Maranello.<\/p>\n<p>To do this, the engine compartment was reconfigured. The battery has been moved to the trunk, the oil tank (the engine has a dry sump), which was originally located in front of the engine, is now installed on the side, and in addition the cooling system has been completely redone &#8211; everything had to be changed in the size and shape of five radiators, while maintaining overall <a href=\"\/recommend-todoist_com\" class=\"sds-arl\">efficiency<\/a>. In addition, a new exhaust system was installed. Surprisingly, with so many changes, the engineers didn't force the hood to swing forward like they did on the original Ferrari 250.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/auto.inform.com.de\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/04\/post-197592-624ffac4a86ea.webp\" data-rel=\"lightbox\"><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"SDStudio-light-box-enable SDStudio-editor-tools-md-imp\" src=\"https:\/\/auto.inform.com.de\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/04\/post-197592-624ffac4a86ea.webp\" alt=\"First RML Short Wheelbase retro coupe built\"><\/a><\/p>\n<p>As a result, the short-wheelbase RML coupe is even shorter than the original Ferrari 250 GT SWB: 4264mm versus 4318mm. Although there is a gap between them in width: 1954 mm for the new car instead of 1600 mm for the old one. In working order, the new coupe weighs about 1,700 kg. Own aspirated V12 volume of 5.5 liters remained standard and produces the original 485 hp and 568 Nm. The transmission has a six-speed &#8220;mechanics&#8221; and a self-locking differential. Estimated time to 60 mph (97 km\/h because it's a British design) is 4.1 seconds and a top speed of 290 km\/h.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/auto.inform.com.de\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/04\/post-197592-624ffac5cd50a.webp\" data-rel=\"lightbox\"><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"SDStudio-light-box-enable SDStudio-editor-tools-md-imp\" src=\"https:\/\/auto.inform.com.de\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/04\/post-197592-624ffac5cd50a.webp\" alt=\"First RML Short Wheelbase retro coupe built\"><\/a><\/p>\n<p>Unfortunately, the interior is shown only in computer renderings. The developers promise that it will easily accommodate riders up to two meters tall. All devices are analog and created specifically for the new model. And it is also claimed that plastic was not used in the decoration: only leather, alcantara and metal! The package promises electric seats, air conditioning and a multimedia system with a browser, and by default its screen is hidden from view in the depths of the central tunnel and extends only when necessary.<\/p>\n<p>The RML Group will produce 30 short wheelbase coupes, approximately 70% of which will be sold outside the UK (mostly in North America). The starting price is \u00a31.35 million before taxes. Separately, it is specified that the assembly of each machine will take about six months.
