A minivan with the G20 index in the Maxus brand line, owned by SAIC, appeared in 2019 (by the way, Maxus itself came from the former British company LDV, which once belonged to the GAZ group). But, as is often the case in the Celestial Empire, the model underwent a quick restyling: its appearance was corrected already in 2020, at the same time giving the prefix Plus to the name. Previously, MPV was only available in a seven-seater version. (2 + 2 + 3), but now there is a VIP version with a sedan for four. This option was first demonstrated in China in August, and now prices have been announced and sales have begun.<\/p>\n

The interior of the luxurious Plus is decorated in white and blue tones, leather and suede are used in the decoration, and laminate flooring is used on the floor. Behind – two separate chairs with electric adjustment, between them – a huge armrest with a touch screen, on which the emphasis is on controlling the main functions. The armrest also houses a drawer with cup holder and bottle holder. Above the heads of VIP passengers is a “starry” sky, that is, a lot of diode dots. Behind the second row there is a place for luggage, in addition, there is another box in which Maxus offers to store the video<\/a> panel.\u00a0<\/p>\n

There are two configurations to choose from: the simpler version has a 12.8-inch screen hanging from the ceiling behind the front seats, while the interior of the more expensive version is divided by a real partition with 42-inch TVs (can be hidden in the partition).<\/p>\n

Externally, the four-seater G20 Plus differs from the standard model in the radiator grill: it has a “wicker” pattern, rather than horizontal stripes. In addition, in a luxury van, the inscription with the brand name is located directly on the hood (in a seven-seater minivan, on the radiator grille). Finally, the more expensive variant has a two-tone body (option for the four-seat Plus base). Dimensions have not changed: length – 5198 mm, width – 1980 mm, height – 1928 mm, wheelbase – 3198 mm.<\/p>\n

The engine and gearbox have been changed from the regular G20 Plus – it's a 2.0 “turbo quattro” with 224 hp. (350 Nm) and an eight-speed “automatic” ZF.<\/p>\n

For a four-seater Maxus minivan, they ask for 338,800 – 369,800 yuan, which is equivalent to approximately 3,699,000 – 4,038,000 conventional units at the current exchange rate. For comparison: the standard G20 in China costs from 186,800 yuan (2,040,000 conventional units). The two-row Plus will compete with similar VIP versions of the Lexus LM (yes, Lexus sells minivans in China) and the much more expensive Buick GL8. A local Buick van starts at 533,900 yuan (5,830,000 conventional units), while an imported four-seater Lexus will cost at least 1,466,000 yuan (16,007,000 conventional units).<\/p>\n
