The new Chevrolet Corvette Stingray C8 is officially presented on June 19, 2019 at a special event in America. The model is interesting for its revolutionary mid-engined layout. Over its long history, the classic American sports car Chevrolet Corvette (introduced in 1953) has been front-engined, but that solution seems to have outlived its usefulness. So find a new 2020 Chevrolet Corvette Stingray C8 with the engine located behind the driver and passenger seats within the car's wheelbase. This mechanism is called the middle or central engine, and is used to build expensive super cars. However, the price of the Chevrolet Corvette Stingray C8 will not be sky-high, and will range from $59,900.<\/p>\n

The production of the new generation C8 corvette will be done by a special company General Motors in Bowling Green (Kentucky), created exclusively for the production of corvettes. Sales of the legendary American sports car, the successor to the generation and layout, will start in the US market in late autumn 2019. The new Stingray C8 corvette will be exported to other countries, and right-hand drive versions of the novelty will also appear. GM plans for the next year – the premiere of the roadster Chevrolet Corvette Stingray C8 and the racing version of the Chevrolet Corvette C8.R.<\/p>\n

The new Chevrolet Corvette retains the familiar styling of its predecessor, the Chevrolet Corvette C7 Stingray, which debuted in early 2013 at the Detroit Auto Show, but the body is re-engineered with completely different proportions. The mid-engine layout made it possible to move the cabin cage almost 420 mm forward, had pronounced air intakes on the side of the hull in the area of \u200b\u200b\u200b\u200bthe central pillar, and the roof and stern – in general, a masterpiece of design.<\/p>\n

Power frame almost entirely aluminum body (six main parts die-cast), cross beam and reinforcement, carbon fiber hinged body panels and body front and rear fiberglass trunk (total usable capacity 357 liters). Headlights and taillights are LED, forged 19″ and 20″ rims with Michelin Pilot Sport tires SLA size 245\/35 ZR19 front and 305\/30 ZR20 rear as standard and Michelin Pilot Sport and 4S with the Z51 package.<\/p>\n

The external dimensions of the body of the Chevrolet Corvette Stingray C8 2019-2020 are 4630 mm long, 1934 mm wide, 1234 mm high, with a wheelbase of 2722 mm.<\/p>\n

For car exterior, offers 12 enamel colors to choose from: Torch Red, Snow White, Black, Blade Silver Metallic, Shade Grey, Ceramic Matrix, Grey, Red, Long Beach, Elkhart Lake Blue, Sebring Orange, Rapid Blue, Zeus Bronze and yellow acceleration.<\/p>\n

The new Corvette is already being called an engineering masterpiece, and in fact, we have a real racing car in front of us. The power frame of the body is built around the central tunnel, which is essentially the backbone of the car and provides, in turn, high rigidity. Suspension is fully independent spring on double wishbones of unequal length, made of aluminum. Braking system Electronic Force e-Charge, Brembo four-piston calipers (for the monobloc rear axle) and 321mm front and 339mm rear discs, and the steering is sharp and firm with a 15.7:1 gear ratio. The electronics mount lets you choose from six component and build settings \u2014 Weather, Tour, Sport, Track, MyMode, and Z Mode.<\/p>\n

When ordering the Z51 package, the performance of the technical stuffing of the new Corvette will be supplemented by an adaptive suspension, magnetic selective Ride control 4.0, monobloc calipers front and rear, brake discs with a diameter of 345 mm in front and 350 mm in the rear, a louder exhaust system, mechanical spring rate adjustment, a more efficient cooling system, electronically controlled differential lock.<\/p>\n

The main units are, of course, the engine and transmission. Behind the driver and front passenger seats, a longitudinally mounted V8 6.2 LT2 petrol engine has (502 hp and 637 Nm) in the company of a dual clutch and an 8-speed robotic gearbox with two wet clutch discs (a joint development<\/a> of engineers from General Motors “and a Tremec box).
\nThe new LT2 engine is not based on the LT1 engine installed in the Chevrolet Corvette C7 Stingray, but has been significantly upgraded and improved. New engine, aluminum cylinder head, 2 valves per cylinder, cast iron liner, direct fuel injection, half-cylinder shut-off and dry sump lubrication.<\/p>\n
