\ufeff\ufeffGerman startup<\/a> Hopper Mobility has begun accepting orders for its first and so far only model, a pedal-powered hybrid that combines the benefits of a bicycle and an electric vehicle.<\/p>\n

Hopper Mobility was founded two years ago by a group of young people from the Bavarian city of Augsburg. They offer their vision of the ideal urban transport: an electric bike in the back of a car that can be used without a license on cycle paths and sidewalks (in Europe, as a rule, a cycle path is part of the sidewalk, equipped with appropriate markings). Hopper does not have to pay any taxes (at least for now), maintenance will be minimal.<\/p>\n

Hopper is designed for two adults and tandem landing<\/a> or one adult and two children. Total length – 200 cm, width – 88 cm, weight – about 120 kg, you can park perpendicular to the curb. The body rests on three wheels: two front driving and a single rear steered, it rotates 90 degrees, so that the turning radius is only 2 m. All wheels are equipped with suspension. The steering wheel is round, like a car, a multifunctional screen is built into the center. The pedals are not shown in the photos, but they are in the description.<\/p>\n

There is no need to pedal (only once to start), but then the maximum speed will be limited to 6 km \/ h – more than a 250-watt electric motor will not start. In hybrid mode, it can accelerate to 25 km\/h. The 48 volt battery is about the size of a small suitcase and can be removed from the case and charged at home or run from a regular household outlet. A full charge is enough for 60 km, and a second battery of the same type is offered as an option, and then the range grows to 120 km. Another option is a solar panel on the roof, which in good weather will give up to 5 km of “free” run per hour.<\/p>\n

A small vertical compartment (70 liters) at the rear is designed for luggage, but if you move the rear seat forward, its trunk volume will increase to 220 liters. There are no side doors, and in bad weather, the openings can be closed with a transparent tarpaulin. The hopper is protected from theft by a keyless entry system.<\/p>\n

The startup started accepting orders from Hopper yesterday: a \u20ac300 deposit is required for registration and full price starts at \u20ac6,499, with deliveries scheduled for spring 2023. Production will be set up in Germany in the first year of sales, it is planned to sell about a thousand hybrids and further on measure of receipt.<\/p>\n

At the end of 2020, we are talking about another, much more technically advanced 5-pedal Twike hybrid from Germany, which allows you to drive even on motorways at speeds up to 200 km\/h.
