How to replace the rear brake pads on the VAZ-2109, we will tell in our article.<\/p>\n<h2>In what cases is the replacement<\/h2>\n<p>The rear brake pads are usually changed on a VAZ-2109 car in such cases:<\/p>\n<ol>\n<li>With complete wear of the friction linings with a layer thickness of less than 1.5 mm.<\/li>\n<li>If there are traces of oil on the clutch surface.<\/li>\n<li>The pads have a lot of free play, they are very loosely connected to the base.<\/li>\n<li>There are chips, cuts and other signs of deformation on the pads.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<h2>The <a href=\"\/recomendet-appsumo\" class=\"sds-arl\">design<\/a> and features of the pads<\/h2>\n<p>On VAZ-2109 cars, like on most budget models, drum brakes are placed at the rear.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/auto.inform.com.de\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/04\/post-174280-624f3d6fee8b8.webp\" data-rel=\"lightbox\"><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"SDStudio-light-box-enable SDStudio-editor-tools-md-imp\" src=\"https:\/\/auto.inform.com.de\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/04\/post-174280-624f3d6fee8b8.webp\" alt=\"Do-it-yourself replacement of the rear brake pads on the VAZ-2109\"><\/a><\/p>\n<p>Its design is not very complicated, only a few components can be distinguished:<\/p>\n<ol>\n<li>metal base<\/li>\n<li>Friction pad. It is connected to the base with an adhesive composition. So, when braking from a speed of 80 km \/ h, the following indicators are relevant: the force on the pads is 320 N * m; pressure in the brake system &#8211; 40 bar. The pads may come off the base surface. This, of course, affects the comfort of people in the cabin.<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<li>\n<p>The elements have a very high wear resistance. Its resource under normal conditions is 70-90 thousand km. But it all depends to a greater extent on the driving style that the driver has. Not the last role is played by the quality of the road surface on which the car moves.<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<p>Be sure to replace the rear brake pads on the VAZ-2109 in a timely manner. With your own hands, all the work can be done fairly quickly, but you will need to take into account some points. The most important thing is to follow the sequence.<\/p>\n<h2>How to remove pads?<\/h2>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/auto.inform.com.de\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/04\/post-174280-624f3d7247749.webp\" data-rel=\"lightbox\"><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"SDStudio-light-box-enable SDStudio-editor-tools-md-imp\" src=\"https:\/\/auto.inform.com.de\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/04\/post-174280-624f3d7247749.webp\" alt=\"Do-it-yourself replacement of the rear brake pads on the VAZ-2109\"><\/a><\/p>\n<p>Before replacing the brake pads on the VAZ-2109, you need to remove them. Under them, it is recommended to thoroughly clean the entire surface: dirt and metal chips tend to accumulate there. Disassembly sequence:<\/p>\n<ol>\n<li>\n<p>The parking brake lever must be down.<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<li>\n<p>Engage first gear in the gearbox.<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<li>\n<p>Install wheel chocks under the front wheels.<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<li>\n<p>It is recommended to raise the entire rear of the machine by placing it on jack stands.<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<li>\n<p>Next, remove the wheel and thoroughly clean the entire mechanism. Please note that do not use gasoline, diesel fuel or <a href=\"\/recomendet-cryptocloud_plus-product\" class=\"sds-arl\">mine<\/a>ral type solvents for cleaning.<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<li>\n<p>If there is a lot of liquid in the expansion tank (close to the maximum mark), then you need to pump it up a little. Otherwise, fluid may spill out during replacement.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/auto.inform.com.de\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/04\/post-174280-624f3d73acec4.webp\" data-rel=\"lightbox\"><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"SDStudio-light-box-enable SDStudio-editor-tools-md-imp\" src=\"https:\/\/auto.inform.com.de\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/04\/post-174280-624f3d73acec4.webp\" alt=\"Do-it-yourself replacement of the rear brake pads on the VAZ-2109\"><\/a>\n<\/li>\n<li>\n<p>Unscrew the two pins and carefully remove the brake drum.<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<li>\n<p>Using pliers, remove the lower and upper springs. You also need to remove the guide spring, which is located on the front block (in the direction of travel).<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<li>\n<p>Remove the front shoe first, then remove the expansion rod and guide spring. Disconnect the drive lever from the parking brake cable.<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<li>\n<p>Remove the pin and remove the support washer.<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<li>\n<p>Remove the back cover and remove the support washer.<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<h2>How to install new pads?<\/h2>\n<p>Before replacing the rear brake pads on the VAZ-2109, you need to make sure that this is necessary. Visually inspect the condition of the element, measure the thickness of the coupling with a ruler. Brake pads are installed in reverse order. It is recommended to press the piston cylinders with a hand vise. It is also necessary to process the drums and center them.
