Already at the very first technical inspection, 11.1% of Dusters unsuitable for operation according to European criteria were identified. This is the most shameful result in TÜV Report 2021, no one has worse.

“There are models with which problems are almost inevitable,” writes Auto Bild in the comments to the TÜV Report 2021, “even at the first technical inspection, Dacia Duster has two times more significant defects than on average.” Why is the car banned from operation and sent for repair? Suspension defects, loss of oil in the engine and transmission… “Those who are interested in Duster at 2-3 years of age should plan enough money for repairs,” sums up Auto Bild.

What about security? Before a new model enters the market, it is customary to conduct crash tests. Euronews on the topic of security is investigated by Euro NCAP. And how did the new Duster perform? On the “C grade” – three stars out of five possible. And this is the worst result of the debut Euro NCAP test season for the model. However, this time the last place in the ranking was shared by three models. Duster results: driver and adult passenger safety – 71%, child passengers – 66%, pedestrians – 56%, safety equipment – 37%.

In 2020, Green NCAP experts assessed the environmental friendliness of the diesel version of the model. It turned out generally 2.5 stars out of 5… That is, “two plus” or “three minus.” In general, the experts noted the acceptability of the Duster exhaust to the existing Euro 6d-Temp standards:

“Exhaust post-treatment complies with legal requirements and provides very good control of particulate emissions. Some improvement could help achieve greater reliability also for NOx, emissions that abatement systems generally handle well. And better control of laughing gas (N 2 O) emissions will result in a higher greenhouse gas index. Be that as it may, this index is the weak point of the car – only 2.8 points out of ten, which leads to a rating of 2½ stars.

But this is all about the Dacia Duster, not the Renault Duster. Are they fundamentally different cars or one and the same? How do they differ, besides the fact that for the eurozone this SUV is produced in Romania, and for recently in Moscow?

At the online presentation of the new Renault Duster, this question was asked to representatives of Renault Our country. And we got an answer: differences in the design of the exterior and interior, the range of power units, and equipment. In particular, the EuroDaster does not have a preheating system, there are no heating nozzles. And, of course, the differences in the settings of units and assemblies – NashDaster in all respects is adapted to our climate and off-road. But no structural differences were named. I.e…

However, the current Duster has more safety stars than the European one. True, the scale of measurements is different. Renault Our country at the test site in Togliatti conducted a crash test to check the level of protection of the driver and passengers in a frontal collision according to the internal method of the Renault ODВ65 group, which, as the manufacturer's press service notes, “is almost completely identical to the ARCAP method, while the collision speed is higher – 65 against 64 km/h”. We are talking about a collision of a car with a deformable barrier with a 40 percent overlap.

The result of Renault Duster is 14.55 points out of 16 possible. “This means that any version of the car can count on the highest rating – 4 stars,” sums up the press service of Renault Our Country.

That is, the safety of our Duster, according to the results of the manufacturer's internal test, was assumed to be at the highest level, in contrast to the recorded mediocre assessment of the euro version of the crossover by Euro NCAP experts. Well, it’s still too early to judge reliability – we haven’t brought the new Duster for the first technical inspection yet. Yes, and our technical inspections are still different from the TÜV examination. Therefore, here, perhaps, it is worth counting on something, if not higher, then at least acceptable – without suspension from exploitation.

On the eve of the current car season, the categorically respected European body for the technical supervision of vehicle safety TÜV summed up its traditional studies of the technical condition of cars and published the TÜV Report 2021, in which it named the most reliable and most problematic cars.
