Lexus intrigues with LX 600 teaser on the eve of the premiere: less than a week left before the debut

The car will be presented both online and at special events in Saudi Arabia, the United Arab Emirates, and more recently.

The Japanese company Lexus has been producing a full-size LX SUV since 1996. Over the past years, the car managed to change generations several times, the current version appeared in 2007, and the model experienced the last serious restyling in 2015. The model is presented in various markets, including the United States, where there is no relatively recently introduced platform SUV, the Toyota Land Cruiser 300. Last year, 4,512 cars were sold in the American market, which is 4.4% less than in 2019. In January-August of the current year, customers bought 2585 units. (1.3% more than in the first eight months of 2020).

Recently, the model has also been introduced. Lexus dealers sold 2,875 units in our market last year, which is 21.4% less than in 2019. This year, the results of the novelty have improved: in the first half of the year, 1,630 SUVs were sold, which is 33.6% more than a year earlier.

Very soon, the Japanese company will introduce the new Lexus LX 600: the car will be presented online, as well as at special events in the most important countries for the model: in Saudi Arabia, the United Arab Emirates, as well as?. The current Lexus office noted that the debut in Moscow is scheduled for the evening of October 13 (19:30 local time).

So far, the company has decided to stir up the interest of fans of the model with the help of the first official video teaser: in a 15-second video, the novelty of the premium brand is shown briefly. In addition, the announcement was accompanied by a picture of the stern of the Lexus LX 600 (the corresponding new index was registered earlier).

There are no official details about the “stuffing” of the new LX yet, they will be declassified as part of the presentation. It can be assumed that this SUV will become a “turned” Toyota Land Cruiser 300. In this case, it will have a 3.5-liter V35A-FTS V6 gasoline bi-turbo engine under the hood. Toyota's SUV has 415 hp and a maximum torque of 650 Nm.

Recall that the current Lexus LX is equipped with a 5.7-liter naturally aspirated V8 with a return of 367 hp. (torque – 530 Nm). It is not yet clear whether this engine will remain in the engine range of the new generation SUV or whether the Japanese company will retire it. A diesel variant is also expected to be in the next LX lineup.

Now? you can still buy the Lexus LX of the outgoing generation. Its starting price tag is 7,909,000 conventional units. What will be the cost of the new SUV, it will be known later. The company calculated that for the entire time of its presence in the current market, the model has sold 51 thousand copies, which corresponds to about 10 percent of the total number of SUVs sold.
