Fiat Tipo family expanded again: now also a cross-station wagon
In the new version, the barn has a body protection kit depending on the gender. Also for such a “crossover” there is a special version of Red.
The current Fiat Tipo began its journey on the market in 2015 with a four-door modification (a model with this name was also in the range of the brand in the 80s of the last century), and in 2016 they were joined by a sedan, hatchback and station wagon. The production of the entire family is established in Turkey, and there the cars are called Egea. At the end of 2020, the Type underwent a restyling, while the line of versions was expanded: a “raised” hatchback with a modest Cross prefix was added to the range. And now there is a “crossover” version on the station wagon.

Like the cross hatch, the Fiat Tipo Station Wagon Cross received a protective plastic body kit, plus the grille has its own pattern. Well, the roof rails in the “barn” were before. The length of such a van is 4583 mm, which is 12 mm longer than the standard van. Ground clearance has also been increased, but the exact figure from Fiat has not been revealed. The Tipo Station Wagon Cross has 17-inch wheels by default, while the original model has 16-inch wheels. Trunk volume – the same 550 liters as a conventional station wagon (hatch – 440 liters, regardless of version).

In Europe, the list of standard equipment of the new “cross” includes LED optics, climate control, a multimedia system with a 10-inch touch screen, a virtual “tidy” (7 inches), a rear-view camera, adaptive cruise control and an automatic braking system.

And the Fiat Tipo Station Wagon Cross is available to Europeans in the Red version, dedicated to the worldwide campaign of the same name, which is aimed at combating epidemics. Characteristic features of this design are red exterior mirror housings (the housing itself can be not only red, but also black, silver or white), emblems with the name of the special version on the doors and seat moldings from a material obtained by processing plastic, which was taken from ocean.

The engines are the same as those of the rest of the family: petrol “turbo” 1.0 (100 hp), turbodiesel 1.3 (95 hp) and 1.6 (130 hp). Front wheel drive only.
In Italy, the Fiat Tipo Station Wagon Cross starts at €25,950 and the cross hatch starts at €24,450. A standard hatchback and station wagon cost between €20,950 and €22,450 respectively in the brand's country of origin (all prices exclude promotions).
