The Japanese company Honda has registered the Acura ADX trademark with the US Patent Office. It is not yet clear which model this name may refer to.

The Acura brand is owned by the Japanese company Honda, one of the main markets for this brand is the United States. It is worth noting that according to the results of the “covid” of 2020, Acura dealers recorded a “minus” in the United States: here they managed to sell 136,982 copies, which is 13% less than in 2019. Recall that earlier this month it was announced the intention to “green” the line of the Japanese brand: at the same time, the company noted that the first electric car of the brand will be an excellent crossover. However, the name of the novelty declared in Acura at that time was not declassified. You may get a new registered name – ADX.

This electric car will turn out to be a more luxurious “twin” of the Honda Prologue crossover, which is not yet completely “battery-powered”. These cars will be based on the Ultium platform of the American company General Motors, and the design of the models will be developed by the Japanese. It should be noted that the project is being implemented as part of a partnership between manufacturers.

Acura and Honda's upcoming “electric crossovers” are for the US market only. The production of new products of Japanese brands will be established at the factories of the GM concern. The Honda SUV is expected to hit the market between late 2023 and early 2024, followed by Acura.

However, an electric crossover is not the only option to use the new name. It is possible that the name ADX will receive a premium SUV based on the next generation Honda HR-V. It is known that such an Acura crossover will receive a hybrid power plant. When this novelty will appear on the US market has not yet been announced.

This spring, Honda announced plans to go all-electric in the US by the end of the next decade, by 2040. As it turned out, Acura's plans are even more ambitious: the brand intends to include 50% of the share of electric trains in the sales structure in the States by 2030. Note, Honda predicts that by now the volume of “green” models sold on the market will not exceed 40%.

Now Honda is already planning further production of its mass-produced electric vehicles: they will be based on the e: Architecture platform developed by the Japanese manufacturer. Models are likely to be global. A fully battery-powered version of the HR-V is planned to be based on the previously shown predecessor, the e:SUV prototype.
