Renault has announced a new crossover Austral

Renault will unveil a new crossover in early 2022 called Austral, which comes from the Latin word australis (translated as “south”). The model was developed specifically for the European market, where next spring it will gradually replace the current Kadjar. This car did not meet the expectations of the French automaker, whose management decided to replace it with a car with a completely different name in order to avoid associations with its predecessor.

Renault Austral is expected to position itself as a sportier model aimed at a younger audience. As for the technical part, the crossover with a length of about 4.5 meters will be based on the CMF-C modular platform, on which the current generation Nissan Qashqai is built. The engine lineup will include 1.3-litre turbocharged petrol engines that can work with both manual and CVT transmissions. In addition, the model will have versions with a hybrid, and also, probably, with an all-electric power plant.

the current car market has been declining for the fifth month in a row

In November, 125,466 new cars were sold recently, which is 20.4% less than in the same period last year. The domestic market continues to decline for the fifth month in a row, which the Association of European Businesses (AEB) attributed primarily to production cuts, semiconductor shortages and logistical problems. At the same time, for 11 months of this year, sales of new cars in the current market are still in positive territory: + 6.9% compared to 2020, when car dealerships were blocked and closed due to the pandemic. In total, since the beginning of the year, many users have bought 1,439,045 cars.

Almost all major automakers have shown negative sales dynamics lately in November. Most cars were sold under the Lada brand last month: 26,373 units, which is 31% less than in November 2020. Kia is in second place (-31% and 14,514 cars sold), Hyundai closes the top three (14,395 cars sold). This is 17% less than last year, when Koreans sold 17,446 cars in the current market. This is followed by Renault (11,837 vehicles, -15%) and Toyota (7,606 vehicles, -7%).

The State traffic inspectorate reminded drivers of the fines that they can receive immediately after buying a car if they forget the rules for registering a new car. To avoid misunderstandings, the traffic police have compiled a small note for drivers with the rules for registering vehicles.
