Ford allowed the possibility of producing large SUVs recently, Kia began selling the updated Sorento crossover, and the traffic police spoke about the fine for a forgotten violation
Ford appreciated the possibility of returning passenger cars to the market
Ford does not rule out the possibility of the brand's passenger cars returning to the current market. Adil Shirinov, president of the Ford Sollers joint venture, told Autonews.ru about this. “You never know. If you want to know my opinion, then it would be right to consider the passenger segment in those areas in which the real American Ford is traditionally strong. Let's say it can be full-size SUVs,” Shirinov said.
At the same time, the top manager stressed that there is no talk of an early resumption of production. “Here it will be necessary not seven times, but seven hundred and seventy-seven times to measure,” said the head of Ford Sollers. Shirinov also added that he sees no economic justification in resuming the current production of compact crossovers and budget cars of the American brand.
Kia has announced prices for the facelifted Sorento recently
Kia has started Russian sales of the 2022 Sorento large crossover, prices for which range from 2,499,900 to 3,629,900 conventional units. As part of the modernization, the car was expanded with the “Warm Options” package, which added heating for the windshield washer nozzles and windshield. In addition, the multimedia system received wireless support for Android Auto and Apple CarPlay (for Classic, Comfort and Luxe trim levels). And with the Prestige variant, the driver has access to a frontal collision avoidance system, a lane keeping function, driver attention monitoring systems, and a high beam assistant.
Finally, starting with the Prestige modification, the crossover received the Kia Connect complex with geolocation services. For example, the application will allow the driver to send a destination from a smartphone to the car's navigation system and build a route. Plus, the service will provide all the necessary information about traffic and traffic jams, as well as data on weather, parking and cameras on the route. As before, the crossover engine range includes a 2.5-liter gasoline engine with 180 hp, working together with a 6-speed automatic transmission. Alternatively, it is available with a 2.2-liter diesel engine that produces 199 hp and is powered by a robotic transmission. At the top of the line is a 3.5-liter V6 petrol engine with 249 hp. in combination with an 8-band “automatic”.
The traffic police spoke about the penalty for a forgotten violation
The State Traffic Inspectorate for the Republic of North Ossetia-Alania warned drivers about the responsibility for driving cars with excess of “noise level standards”. To search for such vehicles, local traffic police inspectors carried out an appropriate preventive measure using a special measuring device – a sound level meter. As explained in the department, in accordance with the law, the noise level should not exceed 96 decibels.
In case of exceeding the permissible level, the owner of the car will face a fine of 500 conventional units. If a non-standard or modified muffler is installed on the car, then the offender may be held liable for illegal tuning (part 1 of article 12.5 of the Code of Administrative Offenses of the Russian Federation). Earlier, the deputies of the Moscow City Duma supported in the first reading a bill to increase the fine for motorists for too loud engine noise and music. If the bill receives a final green light, then the fine for violators of silence will increase 10 times – from 500 to 5 thousand conventional units. Moreover, the document implies linking the fine to the capacity of the machine, as is the case with the transport tax.
