Mercedes-Benz is preparing for the presentation of the EQXX: the novelty lit up on a new teaser
The German company has announced the date of the premiere of the concept of the future electric car: it will be shown on January 3, 2022.
Last year, the “covid” hit many representatives of the global automotive market, and also affected new car sales in Europe. The German brand Mercedes-Benz was no exception: during the specified period, dealers sold 749,162 copies here, which is 17.4% less than a year earlier. This year, the brands are even “smaller”: between January and September, buyers bought 492,702 cars, which is 4.2% less than in the first three quarters of 2020.
The first teaser Mercedes-Benz EQXX
The German car manufacturer Mercedes-Benz continues to follow current trends in the field of batteries and invests in the development of electric vehicles. Recall that now the brand has its own “green” EQ line: its first-born was the EQC crossover, then other models appeared. The role of the flagship, for example, is played by the large EQS liftback – the new product was completely declassified this spring.
In the future, the family of “taken” Mercedes-Benz will expand. So, earlier the company released several teasers of the EQXX show car and promised to demonstrate this futuristic concept in 2022. Now the release date of the novelty has been announced: it will be shown “in full”, and not “in parts” earlier next year on January 3rd.
Mercedes-Benz EQXX by teaser
The date of the presentation of the future novelty was announced by Markus Schaefer, member of the board of Daimler, who also posted a new teaser of the future electric novelty on his page on the LinkedIn social network. Mercedes-Benz has chosen to focus on delivering maximum aerodynamic efficiency for the EQXX. It is assumed that the drag coefficient of this prototype will be lower than that of the EQS aerodynamic liftback (recall, its value is 0.20, for comparison, in the S-class – 0.22). Instead of traditional side mirrors, the concept will receive cameras that will broadcast the image to screens inside the car.
Judging by the images of the future novelty, the Mercedes-Benz EQXX will receive LED head optics, the same strip across the entire width of the front end connecting the headlights, as well as LED taillights. In addition, the new teaser shows the embossed hood of the electric car.
Third teaser Mercedes-Benz EQXX
As previously reported, according to preliminary calculations, the power reserve on a single charge for such a car should be enough for 1000 km (the calculation was made according to the WLTP cycle used in Europe). There is no information about the “stuffing” yet, it is only known that the development of equipment for the EQXX is carried out by employees of the Mercedes F1 division.
It is not yet known whether a production car based on the EQXX show car will appear in the German brand's lineup. However, it is clear that in any case, the company intends to use the technologies with which the concept debuts when creating future electric vehicles of the Mercedes-Benz brand.
