The development of the new Amarok is being overseen by Ford – these were the conditions for creating an alliance between Ford and VW last year, but the German pickup truck will have its own design.
The new Ford Ranger and VW Amarok for Europe will be assembled at Ford's South African plant in Pretoria, which the American company has invested a billion dollars in upgrading. The American Ranger will be assembled in the USA (more precisely, at the Ford plant in Wayne, Michigan), but the VW Amarok will not appear in America.
