Production Batmobile: AMG GT 4-door Coupe

I think in Christopher Nolan's iconic The Dark Knight, Michael Caine's character mispronounced Lamborghini in Russian for the last time, I don't know at what point in the past 12 years they finally started saying the name of the legendary Ferruccio correctly, but I'm not talking about this.

All this time, expensive and impractical sports cars have been associated with Batmobiles, which is partly to blame for Tim Burton and his Batman with Michael Keaton in the title role. His car was flawless in terms of design, but failed at a meeting with speed bumps, and none of the lotions could help her with this. In the Nolan trilogy, Bruce Wayne has a less spectacular but much more efficient car called the Tumbler, which can jump on rooftops.

For the first time in Man-Bat film history, audiences saw not only a cool but also a practical car, which led me to believe that the AMG GT 4-door Coupe would do a much better job as a superhero car than either Lamborghini or Lamborghini..

Looks like a Batmobile

I have never been a fan of Mercedes design. Don't get me wrong, I love their cars, I admire the engineering and performance, but only a few get me excited about static.

AMG GT, as you might guess, is in the TOP-5 of my rating, the car turned out to be really beautiful, in some ways even superior to its two-door brother.

I didn't think anyone could move the Porsche Panamera in the 4-door sports car class, but the AMG GT definitely looks better. (Let's call them 5-doors if you want, I'm not thrilled with all this class confusion and want to consider both of these cars as hatchbacks). Not all Mercedes models come with the signature Monoblock wheel design, but in matte black on the matt black AMG GT with panamericana grille, they look perfect, giving the car the sinister look of a real Batmobile!

The coolest gadgets

The interior of Mercedes, as a connoisseur of minimalism, is also not close to me, but with the onset of night, all its numerous details and highlights make sense. It would seem that such an abundance of them should look vulgar, but in the dark the light looks like a very harmonious continuation of the interior, and this is the merit of the designers.

By tradition, as in all Mercedes worth more than 11 million, you can find all conceivable and unthinkable options in the AMG GT. Four-wheel drive? Air suspension? Interior lighting color choice? This car has everything and even more, it would take Alfred himself a lot of time to figure everything out.

Let's not forget about practicality, not only children can sit in the back seat, and the car has a full-fledged trunk of 456 liters, and since the back cover opens like a hatch, you can even go to IKEA on it (which I actually did).

Rides like a Batmobile

The AMG GT has recently been offered with three engine options: a three-liter inline six of two boost types for 367 and 435 hp. and a version of the 63S with a four-liter V8 with 639 hp, demonstrating an amazing 900 Nm. All 3 engines are equipped exclusively with a robotized 9-speed gearbox and 4MATIC + all-wheel drive.

It is difficult to talk about the driving qualities of such a car after a city test. Due to the lack of opportunity to go to the race track or jump on rooftops, I can only share dry data for acceleration to 100 km / h, which is 3.2 seconds. However, all my colleagues who had the opportunity to test this monster on the race track were extremely impressed with it. I hope to come back to this question, but for now I can only admire the sound of the AMG exhaust system and the acceleration after every traffic light.

Until you turn on the Sport or Sport+ mode, the AMG GT remains typical Mercedes in the city, imposing, soft, comfortable. Nothing but logos will remind you that this is an AMG.

Everything about this car is beautiful, except for the name, it's really annoying, like Mercedes got so tired, creating a real piece of engineering art, that in the end they just wrote down what they did – this is AMG, we did it, GT, it's a Gran Turismo, with a trunk, and these two letters always sound cool, it has 4 doors, but it's still a coupe.
