Landwind X7 in 2018 – Range Rover Evoque clone update

New Chinese crossovers in 2018-2019 have replenished the Landwind X7 SUV, which has undergone a large-scale modernization. In our review of the new Landwind X7 2018-2019 – photos, price, equipment and specifications of the Chinese clone of the British premium crossover Range Rover Evoque.

Having survived the restyling of the notorious Landwind X7, it received a less Ewok-like exterior design, a modernized interior and the latest diesel 163-horsepower turbocharged 1.5 GTDI engine in the company with 8 automatic transmissions. Sales of the updated Landwind X7 2018-2019 model year in China have already begun at a price of 129800-139800 yuan (about 1140-1228 thousand conditional units). For reference: Range Rover Evoque is sold in China at a price of 453,700 yuan (3985 thousand conventional units).

Let's start our review with a short digression into history. The pre-reform crossover Landwind X7 debuted on the Chinese market in 2015 and distinguished itself not only in China, but throughout the world. The Chinese brand Landwind, under the control of Changan Auto, has released an exact copy of the British crossover Range Rover Evoque. A Chinese clone named Landwind X7 was copied to the smallest detail by Ewok, but it was offered at a price several times cheaper than the original. The Jaguar Land Rover company for several years tried to ban the release of an outright fake, but to no avail. In the end, the management of the British company decided to refuse to show concept cars, as they are not copied by Chinese manufacturers.

So Landwind X7 can safely be considered the most famous Chinese clone with a scandalous reputation, by the way, the model is sold in China in significant quantities. And why buy a $68,000 Range Rover Evoque when you can buy a Landwind X7 for just $19,600.

In the process of updating and modernizing the model of the Landwind X7 brand, Chinese designers tried to reduce the visual similarity of the clone of the British original. But to get rid of the influence of the Ewoks of course did not happen. The updated Landwind X7 received a new front and rear body formed by the original headlights, grille, bumpers and stylish rear lights with sections located on the tailgate. The crossover received a new hood and wheel arches have become less lush.

Headlights with LED daytime running lights and taillights are chic LED lights that adorn the rear of the crossover.

• The external dimensions of the Landwind X7 body in 2018-2019 are 4421 mm long, 1911 mm wide, 1631 mm high and have a wheelbase of 2670 mm and 210 mm ground clearance.

The standard crossover received 18-inch alloy wheels with 235/60 R18 tires, larger 19-inch alloy wheels with 235/55 R19 tires are optionally available.

The interior has survived the restyling of the Chinese crossover Landwind X7 has changed minimally, but innovations are present and very interesting. The manufacturer announced new, higher quality trim materials (soft plastic front panel and door cards), more interior lighting points and vanity mirrors. A new instrument cluster is available with a large size color screen, a trip computer, upgraded front and rear seats, providing a more comfortable ride.

Already in the basic equipment of the car, the presence of modern equipment will please: front airbags, ISOFIX standard child seat mounts, ABS with EBD and BAS, ASR and ESP systems, front and rear parking sensors, rear view camera, cruise control, keyless access systems to the salon and a start/stop engine button, an assistant when starting uphill.

As there is a panoramic sunroof, factory anti-theft system, multifunction steering wheel with leather trim rim, multimedia system with a 10.2-inch color touch screen (navigation, smartphone friendliness), power windows on all doors, rear-view mirrors, electric adjustment, with heating and automatic folding, dual-zone climate control, LED daytime running lights and rear lights with LED filling.

As additional options, seats with eco-leather trim, power front seats, heated driver and front passenger seats, all-round visibility system, lane control system, tire pressure sensors, side airbags and curtain airbags are offered.

Technical characteristics of Landwind X7 in 2018-2019. The crossover is built on a modern platform with a fully independent suspension architecture (McPherson strut front, multi-link rear). By default, the drive, rack and all-wheel drive system is not offered, even for a fee, despite the technical possibility (multi-link rear suspension and, if desired, you can install a coupling connecting the drive to the rear wheels). Brakes of all wheels are disk with an electric parking brake.

The most important technical acquisition of the Landwind X7 is a modern four-cylinder turbocharged petrol engine 1.5 GTDI (163 hp, 250 Nm), powered by an 8-speed automatic transmission from the Chinese company Shengrui. A turbocharged engine and a modern 8-speed automatic provide a new top speed of 175 km / h, fuel consumption according to the manufacturer in combined mode is only 8.9 liters.
It is worth noting that the new engine has been replaced by a licensed 2.0-liter Mitsubishi turbocharged 4G63S4T engine (190 hp 250 Nm) with combined fuel consumption of 10.4-10.5 liters per 100 km.
