Hello. What is a travel SUV for you? What kind of Russian car do you represent? Personally, I immediately associate with the GAZ model Sobol 4×4. And these are not just words, as some might think, I personally checked it.

In winter, my friend and I went on a trip to the abandoned villages of the Nizhny Novgorod region on the off-road Sobol 4 by 4. The choice for this model was not accidental. Our family had cars from the Gorky Automobile Plant and now our parents have GAZ Barguzin. We did not find any complaints from this machine for the entire long time of operation. Therefore, I wanted to make a test of this family of cars, but already in the form of 4 by 4.
For me personally, the Sable 4 by 4 is a real travel SUV. Clearance – 205 mm. The fording depth is 500 mm. A plug-in four-wheel drive with a reduction gear, a locking differential (optional) made the Sable a real beast, for which only the direction was needed. In addition, the car is quite roomy, enough space for passengers and cargo. And from the outside, the SUV looks stylish with an ergonomic cabin. Since I think, in addition to excellent all-terrain qualities, the car should also have a decent appearance.
Sable walked calmly and confidently across the virgin snow, but looked very interesting against the backdrop of abandoned villages. The photographs show the meeting of the past and the future.
We had a factory version of the all-wheel drive Sable, but the craftsmen remake real powerful all-terrain vehicles from Sables, such as the legendary Ryzhik in our Nizhny Novgorod region. Moreover, finding both original spare parts and tuned ones for this beast is not a problem.
We left the north of the Nizhny Novgorod region already late at night in bad weather, the rain that began in the evening was replaced by frost at night. The conditions for driving at night are not the best, and we also checked this ourselves, when on the road we saw a UAZ Patriot in a ditch, which was spun and simply knocked out of the way. The UAZ itself couldn’t get out in any way, and it’s almost impossible to find someone at one in the morning in such weather.
But the peasant was lucky, and we Sobol helped him get out. Now few people stop on the roads, and the man was pleasantly surprised that we pulled him out and he did not have to spend the night there.
And now, probably one of the most interesting, is the question of the price of the Sobol 4×4 off-road car for travel. Of course, a quality car can never be cheap, because a cheap price is always a catch. Poor-quality components, or unskilled workers, all this can be included in the cheap price of the machine.
GAZ is a plant with a long history and always monitors its quality. But at the same time, if you decide to buy an off-road Sable, now is the time. GAZ has a special offer with which you can buy a Sable saving up to 284,500 conditional units, but not saving on the quality and properties of the car.
Perhaps few people know, but sports cars created on the basis of Sobol 4×4 serial units and assemblies have repeatedly become winners and prize-winners of the Rally-Raid Championship recently. Which once again proves the fact that the Sobol 4×4 base can be easily modified to fit your needs.
And of course, sometimes our Barguzin lacks all-wheel drive, because when traveling to the village, especially in winter, the classic version of Barguzin lacks the cross-country ability that Sable 4 by 4 has.
