Motorhome UAZ “Baikal” will be mass-produced

Good news for all road travelers and fans of unusual cars: the UAZ Baikal camper will be produced in small batches at the facilities of the Ulyanovsk Avtodom enterprise.

The very first review of this motorhome appeared, of course, on the UAZbook.

Then, a year and a half ago, there was a concept that such a motorhome would be focused exclusively on the European consumer. Accordingly, an agreement was concluded with the German company MADE in RUSSIA GmbH on the sale of motorhomes on the European market.

Now, in view of the rise in interest in domestic tourism, UAZ decided that this model would be in demand in our market as well.

Over the past year, significant changes have taken place in the motorhome, which have affected the interior decoration.

Instead of armchairs, a unique transforming sofa appeared. A special folding mechanism and an additional soft module allow you to quickly equip a full-fledged sleeping place (1950 x 1200 mm).

If necessary, the rear seat is moved along the entire length of the cabin with the help of guides or dismantled, freeing up a spacious cargo compartment.

The sofa has a mount for installing a tabletop. With the help of such a mobile table, you can organize a comfortable dining place or make yourself a desktop for remote work.

The kitchen module has partially moved to the port side.
It now houses a top-loading car fridge, portable hotplate and sink.

The sink is equipped with a chopping board lid, a tap for water supply and a drawer for storing cutlery.

A slightly controversial decision is to place a dry closet right there. Still, it is better for him to provide a place in the rear of the cabin, as the Italians did.

The remaining niches are reserved for luggage and a technical unit that can accommodate two 20-liter water tanks.

Near the partition between the driver and passenger compartments, there was a furniture block with a table top.

A deep cutout on the front wall of the furniture block serves as a step for climbing to the second tier of the motorhome.

All furniture is made of lightweight plywood with durable waterproof HPL plastic lamination. The inner body surfaces are sheathed with ABS plastic sheets that completely cover the metal elements.

As before, there are four options for top add-ons to choose from, which allow you to increase the cabin height to 1650 or 2000 mm and get an extra bed.

No changes have occurred in terms of power units and transmission – everything is standard, with the exception of a small “elevator” with the help of air bags.
