New Kia Sportage 2021: ordered blackening?

Kia Sportage – released in a special version on the “black theme”. This is a good way to stir up interest in a popular model. This time, the Sportage Black Edition was creatively presented to us. Whether this version will highlight the car on the road, so that the owner of a technically not new car has one more chance to be proud of his car, we will soon find out. So far, we have crossed Lake Baikal on the Kia Sportage — a funnel, so to speak, without pouring into the stream.

To get acquainted with the black Kia Sportage, we went to Lake Baikal, which is especially beautiful in winter.

It seems that in such a cold icy space you can see from behind the wheel of an ordinary urban crossover. It turns out not so little.

Of course, we need good accompaniment and tips from the locals, but we managed to cross Baikal in terrible bad weather and never once used outside help.

The black Sportage is easiest to recognize from behind. An inscription appeared on the trunk lid in the manner of Lada Vesta and Hyundai Polisade.

In addition, emblems are painted black, none of the competitors do this, as well as bumper covers and a radiator grille. And of course, the wheels, they are also dark 17-inch.

There are no special options in the cabin. But buyers can choose several equipment options, as well as a motor: 2 liters 150 hp. or 2.4 GDI 184 hp Four-wheel drive and automatic without alternatives.

I got a car with a 2.4-liter engine with direct fuel injection (pictured above) but in the Prestige configuration. With him, Sportage rides honestly and allows you to accelerate to indecent, excuse me, speeds. He always has a feeling of a supply of gas under the pedal. Note that the Kia Sportage with a 2.4-liter engine is an exclusively Russian feature.

There is everything you need, like climate control and heating, but there is no adaptive cruise control, steering assistant and power trunk lid.

But there is enough space in the cabin, a large armrest, a niche for a mobile phone in front. The trunk could be larger, besides, under it is a narrow stowaway. The backs of the rear sofa are adjustable in angle, which is convenient for both passengers and luggage.

We drove a lot of kilometers along the roads of the Irkutsk region, a couple of times we even broke away from the road with 17-inch wheels. Suspension breakdowns were not heard. In severe frost, the windows do not fog up even with four passengers. The car showed excellent dynamics and moderate fuel consumption. And pay attention to the video: we drifted to Sportage on smooth ice for quite a long time – we did not find any overheating of the systems.

Kia Sportage is perfectly controlled in drifting, although the electronics do not give complete freedom even with the stabilization system turned off.

Yes, the trip turned out to be interesting and even extreme, if we recall our attempt to accelerate to 100 km/h on the smooth ice of the lake. We almost did it – the speedometer was 96 km / h, but we had to slow down and slow down – something like an ice ridge loomed ahead. The Kia Sportage braked responsively, keeping its course to a halt. Well done, practical smart car, and in the Sportage Black Edition it has become even prettier.
