The most stylish sedan of the year: Alpha Saga joined the series of novelties of a mysterious startup
California-based startup Alpha Motor Corporation unveiled its next novelty at the Los Angeles Auto Show: the Saga electric sedan with a retro-style body and a range of 482 km on a single charge.
Alpha Motor Corporation has been on the front page since the end of 2020, and since then the startup has announced six new products on its modular platform: the Ace coupe in standard and sporty versions, the Jax crossover, and three pickup trucks – the Wolf with a single cab, the Wolf + with a cab with half cabin and Superwolf in a double cabin. In 2020, the ad list also included a small Icon delivery truck and larger commercial models, but these have since disappeared from the company's website, although commercial models still appear in Alpha Motor's mission statement.
The same description recently featured the name and photo of the startup's CEO and founder: Asian-American designer Edward Lee, who reportedly has 18 years of automotive experience. Previous jobs are not listed, but if you enter his name online, it turns out that Edward Lee previously worked at Lexus and Audi.
Other members of the Alpha Motor Corporation team have not yet announced where and how the company will produce its cars is still unknown. Meanwhile, production is scheduled to begin in late 2023, which was announced in August this year as part of the presentation of the Wolf pickup truck at the Petersen Automotive Museum (Los Angeles). This presentation was conducted in absentia by public relations officers Joshua Boyt and Jay Lievsky of the Advanced Placement agency, they also spoke on behalf of Alpha Motor Corporation at the premiere of the Saga sedan, and the car was presented to the public not live, but in a video.
The Saga sedan, like other previously announced Alpha models, is created in a modern interpretation of 1970s automotive design, and from new to new product, you can see how Edward Lee refines corporate style and refines details. The Saga has sleeker lighting fixtures than other Alpha models, and the cabin features a sleek analog-styled electronic instrument cluster, analog-styled digital radio (with the classic horizontal frequency scale) and physical weather knobs.
The total length of Alpha Saga is 4700 mm, width is 1910 mm, height is 1440 mm. The sedan will be offered with a single electric motor on the rear axle or in an all-wheel drive version with two electric motors. Power hasn't been released, but rumor has it that the Saga will be able to hit 96.56 km/h in 6 seconds and have a top speed of 200 km/h. The design of the Alpha EVs has been a mixed bag for motorists – some enthusiastic, some too far-fetched and cartoony – but one thing is for sure: these cars are different, and in today's market in abundance, this is certainly a valuable advantage.
