Best eight-year-old C-class cars
For this selection, we have selected the best cars on the used car market, which are 8 years old this year, but they are still in excellent technical condition and will give odds to cars just released from the factory.
Skoda Octavia II (A5) Facelift
The second generation Skoda Octavia is a great car for everyday use. It is reliable and inexpensive to maintain, does a great job of getting you from point A to point B with no surprises. A very roomy trunk of 560 liters is undoubtedly a huge plus for this car. This generation of Octavia has one drawback – not enough dynamics, but in this case there is a 1.8 liter AT engine. This option will give you the desired “vroom-vroom”, but there will be more oil, and with 1.8 AMT, the robot will be problematic (but this is a very rare version). Therefore, we recommend the version with a 1.6 liter AT engine.
Kia Ceed II
Kia Sid is always first of all a stylish appearance. We recommend the second generation for 1.6 l AT – low fuel consumption, excellent dynamics in the urban cycle, as well as many options in a good configuration. In this selection, this is the most expensive car, but there is a large selection on the secondary market, so maybe you are lucky and find a copy to your liking and affordability, in a pleasant ratio of price and quality.
Ford Focus III
The third Ford Focus with a 1.6 liter MT engine is a hassle-free option. Spare parts, both original and analogues, are in abundance today. The AMT version can be troublesome – a robot is a robot. The weak point of the Ford Focus is the LCP – a rare car comes across without chips on the rear arches.
Opel Astra J Facelift
Restyled Opel Astra J with a 1.6 liter AT engine (115 hp) is a reliable option with bright external data. A wide range of spare parts, including analogues. The weaknesses of Astra include a well-known disease – a heat exchanger leak. Otherwise, this is a great car in the secondary market. By the way, this generation also has a more powerful version with a 1.6-liter engine (180 hp), but, as we know, the more technologically advanced the internal combustion engine, the more problematic it is.
Chevrolet Cruze II
Chevrolet Cruze with a 1.6 liter AT and 1.8 liter AT engine is perhaps the best version of the first generation of this model. In the secondary market, there is a huge selection of Chevrolet Cruze in this generation: both in the sedan and in the hatchback. At the same time, cars with a good appearance and a fresh interior are more common. Cruise‘s interior looks best in the maximum configuration. The engines of the first Cruise are reliable, but the same problem with the heat exchanger. The version with a 1.8 liter engine is not with a turbine, like the Opel, about which we wrote above, but with an atmospheric one. At the same time, good dynamics of the motor is maintained.
Volkswagen Golf VI
Of course, we could not forget the legendary Golf: excellent performance and driving characteristics. In the version with a 1.4 liter engine, the AMT is a very dynamic car. With proper and timely maintenance, this ICE serves its owner faithfully. The fly in the ointment of the Golf is a robot, although many car owners claim that it's not about robots, but about those who do not properly care for them, and that for thrifty owners it goes more than 150,000 km without outside interference.
