Honda showed a completely different new crossover HR-V
The appearance of a new generation SUV designed for North America has been revealed. This model differs not only in design, but also in “stuffing”.
In the previous generation, modifications of the Honda HR-V for different countries did not differ much from each other, but the new SUV has two varieties. So, the global SUV has already made its debut: it is sold in the company's house (in Japan, the model is called Vezel), in Southeast Asia and in Europe. Now, Honda has shown off an SUV for the North American market, and of course, US residents will be the first to get said HR-V.

The American crossover doesn't just look different: it's advertised as being built on the same “station wagon” as the latest Civic, while the “worldwide” SUV shares a platform with the Honda Fit/Jazz. The “American” is promised an independent rear suspension. The company also said that the new HR-V for the US is larger than its predecessor, although dimensions have not yet been disclosed. The length of the outgoing American SUV is 4328 mm, the wheelbase is 2611 mm. The length of the new generation crossover for Europe is 4340 mm, the model for Japan is 10 mm shorter, the wheelbase of the cars is the same – 2610 mm.

Developed for North America, the HR-V looks more solid than the global one: in particular, the related Civic cross has more powerful bumpers and larger headlights, there are windows in the rear roof pillars, plus the American has other doors (they decided not to hide the rear handles). Finally, there are separate lanterns in the stern (in other regions they are interconnected by a red stripe).

The living room has not yet been shown. Most likely, it is made in the style of a “world” SUV, that is, we are waiting for a “floating” tablet of a multimedia system, airflow deflectors in the form of a single die and a “climate” control unit with three washers (a similar interior for Civic).
They didn't talk about technology either. Crossover engines could be from the American Civic. We are talking about petrol “turboservice” 1.5 and “aspirated” 2.0, which give out 182 and 160 hp from the local sedan and hatchback, respectively. In Japan, for example, an SUV is available with a naturally aspirated 1.5 engine, and there is also a hybrid with an installation based on the same one and a half liter engine. The outgoing Honda HR-V in the US is equipped with a 1.8 engine with 143 hp.
