The serial electric Polar Star 2 evolved from the Volvo 40.2 concept car, introduced three years ago with the Volvo 40.1 show car concept, which became the Volvo XC40 compact crossover some time later. Logically, the Volvo 40.2 liftback concept was created as a new generation of the Volvo S40, but in the end it turned out to be the harbinger of the first production electric vehicle of the Polestar brand. Interestingly, the designers, by and large, did not greatly change the appearance of the concept for the production of electric cars.
Thus, Polystar 2 maintains a stylish image as much as possible by acquiring a number of original body parts. The serial electric car received an original hood and bumper, the shape of the tailgate was changed to traditional door handles, a completely different general lighting and frameless glazing of the exterior rear-view mirrors.
The new mass-produced electric car is equipped with matrix LED headlights (the version of the electric car for the USA and Canada with conventional LED lights), an LED chandelier, side lights and 19-inch wheels.
An optional performance package is available that promises Ohlins adaptive dampers, Brembo brakes with gold-colored calipers, 20-inch wheels, and gold-colored belts.
- The external dimensions of the body of the Polar Star 2 2019-2020 are 4607 mm long, 1800 mm wide and 1478 mm high, wheelbase 2735 mm.
The interior of the new electric car is cozy and comfortable, with a lot of modern equipment and high quality finishing materials. There is a multi-function sports steering wheel with a thick rim, a virtual dashboard with a 12.3-inch color screen, an advanced multimedia complex with a vertical 11.15-inch color touch screen (Android, Google Maps, Google Assistant or Google play store, voice control system, 360 degrees), two-zone climate control, a driver's seat with advanced lateral support, a panoramic glass roof and a huge set of modern security systems and electronic assistants.
