The interior of the transformed Geely Emgrand GL sedan is revealed: nothing more

The Chinese “four-door” not only changed inside and out, but also changed its name and platform. Sales will start soon.

We have already seen this Geely sedan both in the photo of the Ministry of Industry of the People's Republic of China and in branded pictures. But the interior has been kept secret until today. Now it has also been revealed: the cars reached the dealerships, it was there that the local paparazzi ambushed them, their pictures were published by the Cheshi edition. Recall that the company considers the “four-door” to be completely new, it was given the name Emgrand L. However, in fact, we have a significantly altered Geely Emgrand GL. The last one in service since 2016, at one time it was considered the successor to the “just” Emgrand, but in the end the sedan was turned into a separate model.

If outside in the “elk” you can still identify the old GL (the body as a whole is the same), then inside there is nothing left of the predecessor. The salon was decorated in the style of the same Emgrand without a prefix, which has just changed generation: both have minimalism inside. Emgrand L got a two-layer front panel, a large touchscreen of the multimedia system is stuck to it, under the tablet there is a neat row of keys with a motor start button at the head. Another display is located in front of the driver, and the air vents are made in the form of a solid line.

Earlier, Geely said that the sedan moved to the BMA platform (B-segment Modular Architecture; the predecessor is based on the old FE trolley), on which the new generation Emgrand and the Geely Binyue crossover are also built (recently the SUV is called Coolray). The dimensions have not changed much: the length of the Emgrand L has grown by 10 mm to 4735 mm, the sedan has added 13 mm in width (now 1815 mm). The height and wheelbase are completely the same – 1478 and 2700 mm, respectively.

In the documents of the certification body, only the petrol 141-horsepower “turbo four” 1.4 from Emgrand GL was listed. On the predecessor, this engine is combined with a six-speed “mechanics” or a variator, the same boxes are likely to be in the “elka”. The Geely Emgrand GL is also offered with a 1.5 turbo (177 hp) and a seven-speed dual-clutch gearbox, in addition, this sedan also comes in the form of a rechargeable hybrid and an electric car. But it is not yet known whether the Emgrand L will have such a variety of versions.

In the home market, sales of new items will start in the near future, and it is possible that the pre-reform sedan will not disappear from the line – a common practice for China. The price of Emgrand GL starts at 77,800 yuan (about 876,000 conventional units at the current exchange rate). The new “four-door” will certainly be more expensive.
