16 photos of ridiculous car tuning: from Niva to GAZelle
In today's selection of ridiculous tuning, you will see quite a few projects from Ukraine. Mostly these will be Frets of different models, but there are other equally stupid tuning ideas.
Don't forget to also see the previous part >>
In the Ukrainian city of Kolebyaki, Poltava region, a rather strange Niva VAZ-21213 was put up for sale.
The SUV features non-standard tuning with completely replaced optics and an original plastic body kit.
All headlights front and rear were replaced with small round lanterns. To do this, I had to make new lining on the grille, sidelights and taillights.
In addition, wide bumpers front and rear, a hood trim, a sun visor and wheel arch extensions appeared here.
For a 2003 car, the seller wants $3,200, or about 240,000 conventional units at the current exchange rate.
I have repeatedly published photos from America with minivans converted into pickups. The result is always, to put it mildly, controversial.
But someone from Ukraine tried to do the same (of course, they idolize America).
The all-metal GAZelle of one of the repair plants was taken as a basis. She cut off part of the roof, which made it possible to organize a small and completely useless cargo platform at the back.
And this is cultural St. Petersburg, where someone tried to add sportiness to the three-door Lada Priore.
The car received a new front bumper with built-in fog lights, and most importantly – wide wheel arches, like in rally cars.
But no one even bothered to paint everything in one color, and most importantly: the suspension and wheels remained standard, which simply kills the whole idea.
It is no longer possible to determine the make and model of this car.
The owner put a lot of effort into turning it into a kind of cool (though only in his opinion) American muscle car.
He made a new body kit out of what looked like polyurethane foam, which he covered with automotive putty and then hand-painted with a roller or brush.
Naturally, over time, paint on such a basis begins to crack, further destroying the appearance of the car.
Limousines have recently been a separate type of “creativity”. Some are not just disgusting, they are terrible.
But as practice shows, in our country there are a lot of people with a completely rejected sense of taste, who are ready to pay money for renting a car similar to the one you see in the photo below.
Even the idea sounds absurd: a minivan stretched into a limousine, with eight wheels, an enlarged roof and a Rolls-Royce-style front end.
It not only sounds bad, but it looks the same. Although I am more than sure that they still managed to sell it for a rather impressive amount.
Everyone knows that the Niva's spare wheel is under the hood. Such a stupid decision, which significantly worsens passive safety, was invented by AvtoVAZ engineers.
But this guy decided that he did not want to put his life in danger and began to think about where to fix the spare tire.
His brilliant idea was a homemade bumper with space for a spare wheel.
And if it was the rear bumper, then I would not say a word. That's just the spare was in front! Moreover, this is a cast rim, and the car has all other wheels – stamped.
I wonder if his engine began to overheat due to the fact that the spare wheel overlaps the grille?
Rostov has always been the focus of a terrible tuning of domestic cars.
And here's another example for you: an attempt to turn the VAZ-21099 into a cool tuning project.
Yes, the fender flares look nice, but I can't say the same for everything else.
For example, about a stupid air intake on the hood, or about a huge rear wing on the trunk lid. And how do you like the mechanical locks that fasten the bumper to the fenders?
The owner of this car read somewhere about how the creators of racing cars reduce weight by removing everything unnecessary.
Then he decided to do the same with his car. He took and cut a bunch of holes in the front panel.
But it not only began to look miserable, but also was completely useless. After all, the plastic front panel weighed practically nothing!
The owner of this eight wanted his friends to know about his arrival in advance, when he was still a few kilometers away.
His brilliant idea was to replace the tailgate glass with speakers. Then he could turn on the music to the fullest and “please” the district with his appearance.
That's just something obviously went wrong, because the final result was terrible. It's also not very clear how he planned to protect the speakers from rain and snow.
And again we are moving to neighboring Ukraine, where a seriously modified “six” was put up for sale.
The car has become like those terrible camouflaged prototypes that automakers are testing on the roads so that no one will know the real appearance of the future car.
Everything about this project is great. Starting from gradient tinting (look at the windshield) and ending with carpets on the floor in the cabin. Real carpets!
Another attempt to turn the old Zhiguli into a racing cannon. To do this, the owner rewarded his car with a new front plastic bumper, made crooked wheel arch extensions and “dropped” landing to zero.
And then there were the strange micro-air intakes on the hood, just like the cars in NFS Underground from my youth.
Well, the lens front optics and a new homemade grille complete the picture.
