Cadillac CT6 2019 – the new flagship Cadillac
The updated Cadillac CT6 2018 introduces new products from the American company Cadillac 2018-2019 model year. Having survived the restyling, the Cadillac CT6 sedan received a chic look in the style of the Cadillac Escala show car, an updated interior, a new V8 4.2 gasoline engine with two turbochargers and a sports version of the Cadillac CT6 V-Sport. In our review of the 2018-2019 Cadillac CT6, there are photos, price, equipment and specifications of the Cadillac flagship. The world premiere of the updated Cadillac CT6 at the New York Auto Show in 2018, the start of sales of new products in America will take place this summer at a price of $ 55,000 for the basic version of a sedan with a 2.0 liter turbo engine, the cost of “charged” Cadillac CT6 V cars -sport with a 557-horsepower V8 4.2 twin-turbo not yet announced by the manufacturer.
About the release of the updated Cadillac CT6 on the current market so far, for the sole reason that the pre-reform Cadillac CT6 appeared on the domestic market a little over a year ago and, frankly, “there are not enough stars from the sky” – at the moment only 12 copies of the American sedan. Cadillac's flagship was created for the US market, where it competes with executive sedans such as the Lexus LS and BMW 7 Series and the Mercedes-Benz S-Class. Last year, Americans bought 10,542 for example, the Cadillac CT6 and only 4,094 Japanese Lexus LS sedans and German BMW 7 Series sedans and the Mercedes-Benz S-Class ended last year, respectively, with results of 9276 and 15888 cars. So the CT6's main competitor is this is an S-class from Mercedes-Benz, but also… as a “gift” for a German competitor,

Under the hood of the new modification of the American sedan, it has a unique V8 4.2 diesel engine with two turbochargers (557 hp 850 Nm), which transmits traction to all wheels (all-wheel drive) using a 10-speed Hydra-Matic automatic transmission 10L90. The hand-built engine is at the center of the Performance Build Center (Bowling Green, Kentucky), in close proximity to the assembly line from which the Chevrolet Corvette sports car rolls off.
The main technical characteristics of the unique turbo eight-cylinder engine, created, by the way, from a blank slate, are a 90-degree camber cylinder block made of aluminum, four camshafts, 32 valves, forged steel crankshaft and connecting rods, an engine with a high compression ratio of 9.8: 1, Turbo type double volute, electronically controlled bypass valve, steam/water intercooler and double butterfly valve. The engine is equipped with a direct fuel injection system that does not depend on the change in valve timing on the intake and exhaust cylinder deactivation system at light loads and a start / stop system, an oil pump with variable capacity, oil nozzles in the cylinder block, providing additional lubrication and cooling of the pistons from below. The turbine provides a pressure of 1.38 bar,
Of course, not only the unique engine in the arsenal of the new Cadillac CT6 V-Sport. There is a four-wheel drive, a fully controlled chassis, a rear mechanical limited slip differential, an upgraded steering, an adaptive suspension, magnetic control with electronically controlled shock absorbers, an exhaust system supplemented by active valves, an original program that provides a system for stabilization and traction distribution on the axle, Brembo brakes with monoblock 19 1-inch brake discs and 4-piston calipers, 20-inch alloy wheels and special tires made only for the “charged” version of the CT6 sedan.
It is interesting that in the engine range of the updated Cadillac ST6 there is a real and “civilian” version of the new V8 4.2 engine with two turbochargers, delivering 507 horsepower and 750 Nm of maximum torque. Despite the presence of more than 500 horses under the hood, this can hardly be called modest performance.
With the introduction of a new gasoline turbo – “eight” in the line of engines of Cadillac models, perhaps one or even several engines installed on the pre-reform Cadillac CT6 car will retire. It is not yet known which engine will be donated to the American company, and, by the way, there are only three of them: a four-cylinder 2.0 turbo (265 hp) and two six-cylinder naturally aspirated 3.6-liter (335 hp) 3.0 twin-turbo engines (404 PP).
Having dealt with the technique after updating the Cadillac ST6 back to a new body exterior design, it is decided using the style of the Cadillac Escala concept car and the modernized interior of the sedan.
Having survived restyling, the 5-meter flagship of the American company received a chic, stylish and aggressive front part of the body, but new grille trapezoids, a long mesh with an openwork pattern, predatory LED headlights with LED waterfalls, daytime running lights and a sports bumper with pronounced air intakes and aerodynamic characteristics. Feeding the large four-door American premium Sport sedan are new pointed parking lights with LED content, a new trunk lid and a redesigned bumper.
Changes in the interior of the restyled version of the Cadillac CT6 are visible to the naked eye. But, as they say, “the cat is crying.” In the presence of a completely new design of the central tunnel with a pair of rotating washers that control the multimedia system and a new joystick for controlling the automatic transmission. According to the manufacturer, the quality of materials and finishes is higher than in the pre-reform sedan.
It only remains to add that the Cadillac CT6, if desired, you can equip a huge range of the most modern and advanced equipment: a virtual instrument panel, a camera system with recording function (surround vision recorder), infrared night vision, automatic braking, a system capable of recognizing pedestrians and cyclists, multimedica with a 10.2-inch color touch screen (navigation, multimedia, OnStar system with 4G LTE and Wi-Fi internet), a Bose Panaray premium audio system with 34 speakers, four-zone climate control and, of course, expensive finishing materials (leather of different types of natural wood, brushed aluminum, carbon fiber).
