“Charged” Golf will be on sale soon. What is this animal?

At the heart of the new sports hatchback in the Gran Turismo class is an improved version of the MBQ platform with MacPherson strut suspension on the front axle of the car and multi-link rear suspension. The drive is non-alternative – only on the front wheels with the possibility of electronic differential lock XDS. It is also possible to equip the chassis with DCC adaptive shock absorbers. Under the hood of the new Golf GTI will be a 2.0 liter TSI turbocharged petrol engine (245 hp and 370 Nm of torque) in combination with a 6-speed manual transmission or a 7-speed DSG robotic transmission and front-wheel drive. With these technical characteristics, the new hatchback will be able to accelerate to 100 km / h in about 6 seconds, and the maximum possible speed will be 250 km / h.

The key changes in the exterior of the Golf GTI are concentrated in the front of the body – the hood has become more prominent and significantly expanded, the old optics have been replaced with LEDs, while both headlights are stylistically united by a visual pattern with a daytime running light strip and a narrowed radiator grill, the structure of which resembles a polyhedron. The finishing touch is the sloping roof, the rear of which has been lowered in the sporty GTI tradition. The aggressively sporty style of the new Golf is also emphasized by massive air intakes, a dual exhaust system, bright red brake calipers and a strip located above the grille of a similar shade (performs a purely decorative function).

Salon VW Golf GTI will be equipped with deep bucket seats with advanced lateral support, while the classic checkered ornament (“tartan”) will be used in the decoration. The steering wheel will be three-spoke and will be made in perforated leather. An unusual detail will be the tip of the gear knob, the shape of which will resemble a golf ball.

The overall picture will be completed by encircling ambient lighting and pulsating lighting that complements it, the light rhythm of which will be in action until the engine is turned on. Also, a start/stop button, a virtual dashboard with a 10.25-inch screen and a multimedia complex with a 10-inch touchscreen monitor with support for We Connect smart assistants were added to the optional new hatchback.

The cost of the new Volkswagen Golf GTI has not yet been announced, primarily due to the protracted start of sales in the European market, which was supposed to be the starting point for the hatchback. But there is also good news – the eighth generation Golf GTI was recently seen on Moscow roads – which may indicate that the car is currently undergoing certification for the current market and will soon appear in dealerships all over the last time.
