The new “prestigious” crossover Changan will be offered with three installations to choose from
In China, the Oshan Z6 SUV is preparing to start sales. Externally, the model differs significantly from the rest of the line, and is also the brand’s first plug-in hybrid. There will also be "traditional" versions.
In 2018, Changan transformed its previously modest Oshan (also known as Auchan or Oushang) passenger car and light commercial vehicle division into a "premium" sub-brand. Beneath it are crossovers and minivans, while the cheap A600 and A800 vans and the X70A crossover (apparently similar to the earlier Discovery) continue, interestingly, although they are still not included in Changan’s "premium" sales statistics. Be that as it may, but soon the range of "prestigious" models will be expanded. The Chinese Ministry of Industry leaked images of the new Z6 crossover back in November, and Oshang himself recently showed local reporters a pre-production sample, in addition, images of the brand were published.
The appearance is made in a new style for Oshan, and this style echoes the design of Changan models of the Uni series. Thus, the Z6 also received a frameless radiator grille with “scales", narrow diode optics and a forked aileron shape. Other external features of the novelty are a coupe-shaped body, a “floating” roof and protruding exhaust pipes.
Oshan Z6 length is 4699 mm, width – 1890 mm, height – 1660 mm, wheelbase – 2795 mm. According to the first indicator, the “Chinese” almost coincides with our current Mitsubishi Outlander (4695 mm), but the wheelbase of the Japanese brand model is shorter (2670 mm). And compared to other Oshan crossovers, the length of the Z6 has been squeezed between the Oshan X5 (4490mm) and the Oshan X7 Plus (4730mm).
There are no official images of the salon yet. However, it is already clear that large “cleaned up” screens and a multimedia system will be installed inside.
In the autumn, an engine was found in the documents of the Ministry of Industry and Trade of the PRC – a 1.5 petrol "turbo four" with a capacity of 188 hp and 300 Nm (the Oshan X7 Plus is also equipped with it). But during the presentation of the almost production-ready Oshan Z6, it turned out that the cross would also be offered with a 2.0 turbo engine. The Chinese write that the older engine produces 233 hp and 390 Nm. The 1.5T engine will have a robotic seven-speed dual-clutch gearbox, while the two-liter will presumably be paired with a classic eight-speed automatic. The SUV will also have a plug-in hybrid version with a 1.5T configuration, and it will be the first PHEV model in the brand’s lineup (although it already has all-electric vehicles). truth, this figure is calculated according to the outdated NEDC cycle, local media do not mention all-wheel drive; Apparently the Z6 is exclusively front-wheel drive.
A full-fledged premiere of the new crossover may take place in the spring. Recently, the "prestigious" sub-brand Changan is not represented, the Chinese are not going to bring it to our market. But we are about to launch a new product from the parent company: the Changan Uni-K SUV.
