“Vepr” – an SUV that could surprise
First of all, it is worth saying that the readers would not have any confusion. “Vepr” and GAZ “Vepr” are two different cars.
It would seem in our time, with a huge variety of cars, including SUVs. From which, everyone can choose the right one for themselves. As they say to your taste and color. It is almost impossible to surprise motorists.
But the company from Kremchug, under the uncomplicated name “ATP-15356”, succeeded. At the Arms and Security exhibition, the Vepr off-road vehicle was triumphantly shown. Which was impossible to get past.
The first thing that catches your eye is the gigantic size of the SUV. Dimensions of the Vepr off-road vehicle:
- length – 5 300 mm;
- width – 2,500 mm;
- height – 2 100 mm;
The ground clearance is 605 mm, despite the fact that the SUV has an air suspension that can raise the car even higher.
Under the hood, the Boar, is an IVECO engine with a volume of 3.9 liters, which produces 139 hp. This is enough to accelerate a three-ton SUV to 140 km / h. Someone say a little? Why does he need more? This car is built for tough off-road, not quarter-mile racing.
The creator of this SUV, Vladimir Ivanovich Pilipenk, literally on his knee, managed to assemble a car that can compete on equal terms with the world's famous SUVs.
It is worth saying a little more about the suspension of the Vepr SUV. As mentioned above, it is pneumatic, which allows you to increase or decrease the vehicle's ground clearance, depending on road conditions. It is also possible to individually pump each wheel separately. Which is definitely a plus. And gives the car even more off-road mobility.
The wheels on the Vepr are borrowed from the armored personnel carrier. Each wheel is equipped with a pumping system. Which is an undeniable plus.
Most of the SUV components were manufactured in Ukraine. The body comes from Zaporozhye. The diesel engine was created by the joint efforts of Iveco and Motor Sich. The rest, as they say, was borrowed from the world bit by bit. Some parts were made at ATP.
Naturally, the SUV aroused the liveliest interest primarily from the military. What is noteworthy is not Ukrainian, but foreign military countries. Well, there is nothing to say about the civilian people. The car made a splash.
Despite the formidable appearance, the interior of the Vepr is quite comfortable. And for obvious reasons, quite large, if not huge.
A variant of the Ukrainian Vepr is also provided in the back of a pickup truck. But it only exists on paper.
As for mass production, the prospect is very vague. We all see what happened in Ukraine and what is happening now.
At the moment Vepr is produced in small batches and mostly on order.
