Serial Volkswagen ID. Buzz: first images
Volkswagen will soon show its new serial minibus, but for now, using the available spy photos and teasers, we have an idea of what the future novelty will look like.
In early 2017, the German brand introduced the ID Buzz concept, a design successor to the classic rear-engined T1 vans from the 1950s. Now the serial version of the concept is being prepared for the premiere, which will generally retain its style, but there will also be many differences. Thus, headlights will appear at the front, visually united by an LED strip passing through a large brand logo. The bumper is also slightly different, with larger diamond cutouts, and like other new VW models, the entire lower section will be body-coloured.

Unlike the concept with body-coloured pillars, the standard van will get hidden pillars under the windows. The sidewalls will retain their simple shape, except that door handles will be added, and very traditional ones, that is, under the “natural grip”. The rear doors, which are sliding, are on the sides. The headlights will echo the front optics thanks to the LED strip that will connect them. A large brand logo will be placed in the center of the tailgate, and a license plate niche will be placed in its lower part. Additionally, the minibus is shown with wheels of the original design, which will be one of the available options.

Information about the technical part is still scarce. Firstly, the minibus is completely electric, and its power in combination with all-wheel drive can reach 400 hp. I'D. The Buzz will be built on the modular MEB platform that will be the basis for all electric Volkswagens. As for the dimensions, they can be close to the concept: its length is about 5 meters, and the wheelbase is 3.3 meters.
The premiere of the novelty will take place on March 9th.
