Koenigsegg Gemera: four seats in one hybrid and more than 1700 hp with.
Looks like the Geneva Motor Show this year would be wildly interesting. I would have, but I didn't – the coronavirus intervened. One of the most interesting new products could be the Koenigsegg Gemera. But we live in the 21st century, here now presentations are held on the Internet, so we still didn’t miss anything.
Koenigsegg decided to take the idea of GT to the absolute. The Gemera will comfortably fit four adults plus what the company calls hand luggage. And all this in a car with a total capacity of 1700 hp. with.!
Design
This is a long, almost five-meter car. It has trendy doors that open up. It looked impressive in the 1980s, and it looks spectacular forty years later.
There are already two trunks, but they are purely nominal. The fact is that their total volume is 200 liters, and this is very little. But if you want something roomy – buy Renault Logan. And save money, and in the trunk with a volume of 510 liters you can carry almost everything. And in general, for the cost of one Koenigsegg Gemera, you can buy as many as 145 of these very Logans!
But we have to admit that Gemera is still more beautiful:
From whatever angle you look:
From above, the dimensions of the doors are especially clearly visible. Apparently, they are about 2.5 meters long!
The Gemera was based on a carbon fiber monocoque. Its torsional rigidity is 40 kN m/deg. All panels and hinged doors are also made of carbon fiber. Doors, by the way, on the electric drive.
AirCore wheels are also made of carbon fiber. They are surrounded by either Michelin Pilot Sport 4S tires installed in the base, or Michelin Cup R3. Their size is 295/30 ZR21 at the front and 317/30 ZR22 at the rear.
But the salon here is worth scolding for the appearance:
Looks clumsy and not very effective. But the flags of Sweden fit well!
It is not very clear what kind of display is here and why it is completely frameless. It's probably just a bug.
But there is CarPlay, wireless charging, an 11-speaker sound system, electric heated seats and other nice little things.
Iron
Despite the appearance of the car, which you want to enjoy, and not describe it at all, the most interesting thing is inside.
First, the Gemera has four engines. Three of them are electric – two on the rear wheels and one on the crankshaft. In total, they give out up to 800 kW or 1100 hp. with.
But this is a hybrid, so there is still a gasoline engine. And he, to put it mildly, is not very typical for hypercars: two liters, three cylinders. He was ironically called Tiny Friendly Giant (“little friendly giant”). It weighs only 70 kg. This motor has an individual Freevalve valve drive. All this allows you to develop as much as 600 hp. with. (yes, six hundred) and 600 Nm of torque!
