The Italian manufacturer intends to bring to market a new version of the model next year, which means that soon before a full-fledged debut.

Maserati unveiled its new MC20 supercar in September 2020. As we already reported, it is an “evolution” of the MC12 sports car (this model was produced for a short time – from 2004 to 2005). Production began at the Modena plant, which was refurbished and refurbished within a year following the end of production of the GranTurismo and GranCabrio models. Now the company has shown a new version of the model, with an open top.

The official website posted several photos of the future novelty, but so far the convertible is being hidden with the help of camouflage films. At the same time, the company noted that this is not a serial car, but the “first prototype” hiding under the camouflage. At the same time, a full-fledged premiere should take place soon enough, since the open-top modification will go on sale next year (there is no exact date yet).

The company again “not coincidentally” reacted to the choice of disguise for the future model. So, the pattern on the camouflage film is made in the form of light white clouds against the blue sky. Maserati noted that “it's a convertible after all”, suggesting that people sitting in an open car will enjoy the view of the open sky.

The front of the Maserati MC20 Cabrio up to the A-pillar will be identical to the coupe. Unsurprisingly predictable differences in the performance of the roof and part of the stern (in the place where the compartment for folding the carbide top will be located). As a reminder, the carbon monocoque base body for the MC20 was developed in collaboration with Dallara, a well-known specialist in the construction of racing cars.

The interior of the convertible probably won't be much different from the interior of the “two-door” shown above. The MC20 has a 10″ virtual instrument cluster. The center of the dashboard also houses the 10-inch touchscreen infotainment system, which is also responsible for the car's driving settings. On the central tunnel there is a volume control knob, power window buttons, a washer for selecting driving modes.

Maserati has not yet provided official information about the “stuffing” of the cabriolet, but it can be assumed that the technology will be the same as that of the coupe. We are talking about a 3.0-liter gasoline “twin-turbo six” Neptune, whose power is 630 hp and maximum torque – 730 Nm. Power is sent to the rear wheels via an eight-speed DCT (dual-clutch) automatic and a limited-slip differential. An electronic lock is available at an additional cost. The Maserati MC20 coupe accelerates from standstill to 100 km/h in 2.9 seconds, and at a speed of 200 km/h in 8.8 seconds; the maximum speed of the car is 325 km/h.

As previously known, in the future the model will also have an electric modification. The company said that the “green” MC20 sports car will be able to hit the first “hundred” in 2.8 seconds, and the power reserve on a single charge will be 323 km (the calculation was made according to the WLTP cycle). The maximum speed of the “train” will be 310 km / h.
