Like it or not, reliability is expected from any car. Even those customers who prioritize other criteria when choosing do not want to spend days and weeks at the service as compensation for the fact that their car is roomy, beautiful, fast, luxurious or something else. So the ability to start and drive is important to everyone, but not everyone admits it.
Overall standings
In the absolute rating of reliable, Toyota predictably leads. At the top was the Land Cruiser Prado SUV. Consumer confidence in the brand, model and build quality is fantastically high at 96-98%. For excellent preparation for the current conditions, the car was chosen by slightly fewer buyers – 86%.
On the "silver" position sedan Toyota Camry, the undisputed leader in its segment. True, its percentages are 20-30 points lower than those of Prado, but this does not affect the popularity of the model. The third rather unexpectedly was the "Swede" Volvo XC90. The first generation of the crossover turned out to be a long-liver and deservedly earned a reputation as a hardy car. The successor also inherited fame, although he switched to downsizing turbo engines.
Surprisingly fourth place: Honda CR-V, almost forgotten among those who choose new cars. As in the case of Volvo, the image of past generations apparently works. Almost 81% of owners chose "Japanese" for a proven brand, another 67% – for the high quality of assembly and components. Then again Toyota, already RAV4. Thus, more than half of the top five lines were behind the brand.
The second half of the top ten was formed mainly by representatives of the Old World: Volkswagen Polo and Tiguan, Renault Duster and Skoda Octavia. Among them, another Toyota, the Corolla, took the ninth place. The incentives for choice were the same as those of the leading group. The most popular foreign cars, Hyundai Solaris and Kia Rio, are only in 13th and 16th places, respectively. That does not prevent them from being the basis of the taxi fleet in the largest metropolitan areas.

The breakdown by price brings the Volkswagen Polo to the top of the available cars. The sedan of the Kaluga assembly was produced for almost ten years without a generation change, and even at the end of his career, he kept in the top in sales. Most buyers believe that this is a proven brand, a proven model.
In second place in the priorities for choice is build quality. The Renault Duster crossover, the most affordable in its class on our market, scored even more for trust in the brand and model than Volkswagen, 76 versus 71%. However, according to the sum of sympathies in the rating of reliable cars, he still remained second. Closes the top three Toyota Corolla.

One would assume that Kia with a five-year warranty would have a higher rating, but no: Rio has 14%. But, for example, Lada Vesta SW Cross with a standard term of 3 years or 100,000 kilometers has a record 29% in the segment. The trend continues in the following price groups. And if 7.7% turned out to be the minimum in the average, then in the top Range Rover Velar it was marked by absolute zero!

In the middle price segment, no one managed to push their way up through the dense system of Japanese models. The top four were Toyota Land Cruiser Prado, Toyota Camry, Honda CR-V and Toyota RAV4. In the case of Toyota, the high rating of respondents corresponds to the situation on the market: cars are well taken new, they are highly liquid in the secondary market. But Honda rides on the popularity of past generations. The current one is taken poorly due to the high cost, and the brand in the current market almost does not invest in advertising activities.
The best non-Japanese car, the Volkswagen Tiguan, is in fifth place in the ranking. It is distinguished by an unusually high percentage of owners who took it for maintainability and ease of maintenance (more than 48%). German cars have indeed always been thoughtful in terms of service operations. But a simple crossover on a modern modular platform, with a turbo engine, a preselective robot and a mass of electronics, cannot be called.

We note in this group a relatively high proportion of those who choose to purchase under the terms of the manufacturer’s warranty support. For 13 models out of 20, this figure is 15% or more. The absolute minimum is for the Passat sedan (7.7%). For high crash test results and expert assessments, Mitsubishi Pajero Sport is most often chosen (35.4%). Build quality stands out Volvo S60. "Swede" closes in the TOP-20, but with the highest percentage in this parameter – 82.1%. Curiously, only 39% of owners chose Toyota Land Cruiser Prado for preparing for current conditions. SUV, of course perfectly tolerates the harsh Russian realities. It’s just that the strength of other parameters is so great that this one ended up on the sidelines.

Unlike the middle price segment, there is no dominance of the "Japanese". Premium European models are presented in abundance. What is surprising: there are three Audis and Volvos, two BMWs and Volkswagens, but not a single representative of Mercedes-Benz! Exotic is striking. So, in eighth place was the Range Rover Velar. Although, it would seem, the unreliability of the "British" was not so long ago a joke. The crossover also has a strange distribution of consumer priorities. In the columns of crash tests, maintainability and warranty – zeros. 100% of buyers rated the build quality and the brand. Slightly less, 97%, consider the machine well adapted to our conditions.
