Test drive BMW X3 xDrive30d
Or a story about how I first got on a test drive. It was in the summer of 2013.
Then Avtodom on Zorga organized a massive test drive of BMW cars. I was asked to come up with which of the BMW models I would take for a test drive. I came up with the idea to take the BMW X3 xDrive30d SUV.
It was difficult to start the test drive. I get into the car. In the pocket of the electronic key, in front of the eyes of the steering wheel and the “Start” button. I press the button. The lights on the dashboard light up, the fan blows warm air, the radio in the speakers sings something, and the engine is silent. I press the button again. Everything turns off.
– How to start it?
It turned out that it was necessary to press the brake and the “Start” button at the same time. A good start to the test drive, the motor finally turned on?
At the first traffic light, the car just stalled out of the blue. How so?! Just drove away from the salon, the car is brand new! What is going on?! But, releasing the brake, the engine turned on again and we drove on. It was the “Auto Start Stop” system that worked – turning off the engine during a short stop. Allows you to save fuel, but annoying out of habit? It is turned off by the button next to the “Start” button.
As for the quality of the interior trim, I had no questions. The gaps are even, the stitches are straight, nothing creaks, everything is solid and of high quality. But the landing of the driver (me) was uncomfortable. My right leg on the right side was pinned down by the front section of the center console. Little space on the right for the legs.
Using turn signals is hell. If you can still turn on the turn signal, then turn it off – I still do not understand how. It's good if it turns itself off after turning. But it didn't always turn off. I had to press the indicator lever in the other direction, but the lever is not fixed. And it didn't always help. In general – a strange thing. Now I understand why BMW drivers on the roads don't turn on their turn signals.
You can't read the instructions for driving a car while driving?
How tough is this BMW X3 xDrive30d! Every shovchik on the pavement, every hole in the road you can clearly feel the bottom of your back. And overcoming the “speed bumps” becomes generally a difficult task.
On the road (on dry pavement) BMW X3 xDrive30d behaves perfectly. All maneuvers are performed clearly and understandably. Liked the wheel. Thick, wiry. The set of speed is just a buzz. If you want to move from lane to lane without creating interference, please! The car reacts to the gas pedal instantly with strong acceleration. In the “Sport” mode, the BMW X3 xDrive30d turns into a hurricane in general? I wonder how the BMW X3 will behave on wet pavement and on a snowy road?
The manufacturer claims that the fuel consumption of the BMW X3 xDrive30d is 6.8 liters per hundred in the city. When we completed the test drive, the on-board computer showed 14.4 liters.
Power trunk lid – yes, convenient?
Here is an acquaintance with the BMW X3 xDrive30d I took place then. But on this day, I tested another BMW machine. I will talk about this in one of the following articles.
By the way, on my YouTube channel there are test drives of cars that I shot at the end of 2019. You can also view them by clicking the link.
