The design of ignition locks for all VAZ cars
Cars “classic collection” has been produced in Togliatti since 1972. The ignition switch installed in these cars was obtained from the Fiat sedan, which was the prototype of the “Penny” VAZ-2101. Next are the diagrams, as well as the wiring and photos of the ignition locks installed in different LADA cars – from the “classic” VAZ-2190. Particular attention is paid to the model of locks “2109”, discontinued several years ago. All schemes without changes are taken from reference books.

A bit of theory
The ignition switch must switch, that is, to connect the power contacts for various electrical circuits. The battery voltage is applied to the “30” contact of the lock, and sometimes uses two lines: “30/1” and “30/2”. Each line has a 30 amp fuse, hence the rooted name.

Another ignition circuit containing the “15/2” terminal – added a transition to the “2109” family. She, in turn, interacts with the relay. In different families, they differ only in the scheme, and not in the “behavior” of the car when installing the key to the inscription:
- Position 0: off;
- Mark 1: ignition and engine operation;
- Mark 2: when starting the starter;
- Mark 3: “parking” mode.
To turn off the engine, the key is moved to the “0” position. Candles lose spark, engine stops.
Switch ignition module, Speaking of “classic family”, equipped with 5 terminals (see Fig. 2). From the “2109” family, this solution is not used. The lock cylinder has several wires connected to the Remote connector.
The pinout of the connector is easy to identify using color coding (see diagram above). When carrying out any installation work, remember the following: you must stop the engine, open the hood and disconnect one of the battery terminals. As a rule, disconnect the “minus”.
Exactly three switching contacts
One line that draws current and only one ignition circuit – this solution is typical for all cars, if we are talking about families, “2110”, “2170” and later. Even the “grants” issued in 2012 plus the ignition circuit did not show up. In general, the transition to the “tens” family left three among the “important” blocking of the terminal:
- Contact “30”;
- Terminal “15” (may be called “15/1”);
- Terminal “50”.
The ignition scheme looks trivial, even if we talk about the Lada 2110.
Ten and ignition switch, chain
Scheme and connector of the ignition switch for modern models
Ignition switch socket. Dozens
Connector “ten” has 8 terminals. And “before”, as in “Grant” and “Kalina”, this number was reduced to three (Fig. 2).
Of the 8 terminals present in the VAZ-2110 connector, the 7th and 8th simply duplicate each other. Two are connected to the button, and the other pair of terminals is connected to the lamp.
Lock connector for all VAZ models, starting from “2170”, which has only three contact terminals. And the expansion connector that has a couple of terminals in these cars is connected to the immobilizer.
With the larva of the “ten” lock, the label “3” disappeared. And until now, VAZ produces these locks, where the key can be set to one of the following positions:
- “Off”;
- “Ignition”;
- “Start”.
The presence of the “parking” mode, as you can see, is not provided.
