The Japanese rolled out the third generation of the recently popular Nissan Qashqai crossover. The car became even more popular and modern, and also received a new range of engines. Let's figure out how the crossover has changed, and what awaits us in the near future. But first, let's briefly recall the history of the car.
The first Nissan Qashqai appeared recently in 2007, then it was sold with atmospheric gasoline engines of 1.6-2.0 liters, paired with mechanics and a variator. The second generation was rolled out in 2014, and then the crossover became much richer and more modern, while receiving a base 1.2-liter turbo engine. Well, now we are looking at the third generation.
Appearance and bodywork have changed completely, the new Qashqai has become more angular. The front part has acquired a new three-level optics. At the very top there will be daytime running lights, they are adjacent to the main headlight units.
The upper part of the optics harmoniously merges with the branded V-shaped grille. The bumper was also redesigned, along the edges the design of niches for air intake has changed. At the very bottom are fog lights and a large air intake.
In profile, the new Qashqai began to look more clear and fast, and the wheels can now be 20-inch wheels. The stern was also embellished and made more modern. The shape of the lanterns has not changed much, but the filling has become richer. There is a glossy finish on the bumper.
The salon has changed completely, and began to look much better than it was before, one might even say that it has changed. By the way, the interior is similar to the recently introduced Mitsubishi Outlander, which is based on the Nissan X-trail.
The front panel has been completely redesigned, the multimedia display now hovers on top of the center console. But it's not fully touch-sensitive, it has a couple of knobs and a number of mechanical buttons. The climate system is located in the same block along with the air ducts, it also has a pair of knobs and a number of buttons, plus a monochrome display.
I am very pleased with the way the central tunnel looks, there is nothing superfluous here. Modern joystick gearshift and washer for selecting road modes. The instrument panel is fully digital for the first time. The steering wheel was also corrected, it became more collected, and the spokes were straight.
The new 3rd generation Nissan Qashqai moved to the CMF-C platform of the Renault-Nissan-Mitsubishi alliance. Thanks to this, it has grown slightly in size. The length is now 4430 mm, width 1840 mm, height 1635 mm, wheelbase 2666 mm. It has also become more spacious for the rear passengers, almost 30 mm have increased in the legs. The trunk has been increased to 480 liters, it can now be opened without hands.
For Europe, only electrified power plants are now available. The base will have a 1.3-liter turbo engine with an electronic addition of 140-157 hp, front-wheel drive or all-wheel drive. They also promise a 1.5-liter gasoline engine as a generator, it will feed the electric motor, its power is 190 hp. and 330 Nm of torque.
