Details about the new Acura Integra: the engine is from the Honda Civic Si, but with a CVT in the “base”
The premium brand Acura, owned by Honda, has completely declassified the revived Integra model for the North American market. As expected, in terms of technology, the novelty repeated the previously introduced new Honda Civic Si, but the premium model has its own design and more options.
The previous Integra (aka Acura RSX) left the Japanese company’s lineup in 2006 and only recently returned: in September last year, the new Chinese Honda Integra was introduced, in November the American Acura Integra was shown as a prototype and the production version was released yesterday .
The new Acura Integra is essentially the Honda Civic Si familiar to our readers in the North American market, but the premium model has a raised body instead of a sedan, richer equipment and its own design in the spirit of Acura’s latest models: pentagonal grille, "gorgeous" LED headlights Jewel Eye and sharper body surfaces.
In the Acura lineup, the new Integra will be a step up from the ILX compact sedan, which is based on the previous generation Civic platform. The Integra is more expensive and slightly larger than the ILX, though exact pricing has yet to be announced; we only know that the basic liftback will cost about 30 thousand US dollars. For comparison, let’s say the Acura ILX starts at $27,300 and the Honda Civic Si starts at $27,300. The total length of the Acura Integra is 4719 mm, the wheelbase is 2736 mm. The Acura ILX has similar dimensions of 4628mm and 2670mm.
The laconic interior of the new Civic, along with the Acura Integra, received sculptural nodules on the front panel, more wavy air ducts and expensive leatherette trim. The "base" has a 10.2-inch fully virtual instrument cluster and a 7.0-inch multimedia display. A large 9.0" multimedia display, 5.3" head-up display and 16-speaker ELS Studio audio system are available at an additional cost. A sunroof, heated front sports seats and AcuraWatch electronic driver assistance are already standard.
Under the hood is the same as the Civic Si, a 1.5-liter petrol "turbo" (203 hp, 260 Nm), but if the Civic combines only a 6-speed manual transmission with it, then Acura has a "basic CVT with fixed gear ratios and paddle shifters for manual shifting. A manual for Acura is also available, but only as part of an optional A-Spec technology package complete with a limited-slip differential and adaptive dampers. Drive in any case only front. Dynamic functions have not yet been declared.
The Acura Integra will go on sale before the end of spring, this model will be built at Honda’s plant in Marysville, Ohio, and the new Civics for America are built in Greensburg, Indiana).
We add that last year the Acura brand, according to the CarSalesBase resource, sold 157,408 cars in the United States (14.9% more than in 2020), while Lexus sales amounted to 304,475 units. (+10.7%), Infiniti – 58,553 units. (-26.4%).
