Pros and cons of Hyundai Tucson. Is it worth getting a used one?
In the secondary market, there are more and more offers to buy used Hyundai ix35 crossovers.
What is this car? What is it used for on the road, and how much does it cost to maintain. Few people are familiar with this model. Yes, most people know the Creta and Solaris models. These are recognized market leaders, it will not take long to explain what and how happens to them on the secondary market. But the ix35 was not sold as smartly as its neighbors in Hyundai. The fact is that with a lack of money, they took Creta, and with a little more, they already preferred the Hyundai Santa Fe. And it doesn't make sense. But today is about something else.
Should I take Hyundai Tucson (ix35) with mileage
It is worth noting right away that until 2015 the car was called ix35, as in many markets so far. But with the new generation lately it is called Hyundai Tucson. So be aware. One of the main disadvantages of previous generations of this crossover is called its paintwork. In front, the hood and fenders, as well as the trunk lid at the stern, constantly chipped off and the so-called shashel appeared (small chip points that then rust). If the car was not protected by a film, then everything can be very sad. Before selling, it's all “blowed out” with a thin layer of paint, so you should be careful.
As for the engines, the diesel 2.0-liter unit does not show any problems up to about 150 – 200 thousand mileage, hardy and reliable. At two hundred thousand during normal operation, it is enough to replace the gaskets and mating parts and continue to ride safely. But with gasoline engines (2.0 and 2.4 liters) there were problems: the fastening of the chain tensioner is very often loosened, vibrations appear. In addition, gasoline engines here are very whimsical to oil. If the owner saved on this, then there may be problems. Hyundai has never had a problem with boxes. So, here you can be calm.
The disadvantages of the suspension include rear silent blocks and struts, as well as ball bearings. On our roads, all this has to be changed every 50-60 thousand kilometers. It costs about 40 thousand conventional units. Hub bearings often fly quickly, and this is about 9 thousand for a pair with the installation. I'm not talking about Chinese counterparts. You can, of course, and much cheaper to find.
As a result, we can advise Hyundai Tucson (ix35) in the secondary market. Reliable and durable enough. Yes, it has some drawbacks, like all machines, but with normal operation and maintenance, it does not require large investments. Almost every service station undertakes to repair it without any problems due to the simplicity of the design and the availability of any spare parts for it. Just be careful when buying at the stage of inspecting the car.
