TVR Griffith 2018 – the revived British sports car
The new 2018-2019 TVR Griffith British Sports Car is officially unveiled at a special event at the Goodwood Renaissance Festival of Speed on September 8, 2017. The new two-door-coupe company TVR with the old name Griffith debuted under the guise of a show car, but is almost completely ready for serial production. In our review, the new TVR Griffith 2018 – photos and videos, price and specifications, specifications, revived from oblivion, a British sports car. According to preliminary information, the price of the new TVR Griffith gasoline “eight” with a capacity of more than 500 horsepower will be from 90,000 pounds for motorists in the UK. Interestingly, the first Griffith 500 in a special launch performance carbon fiber edition has already found its owners, despite the fact that customers who started pre-ordering the novelty more than a year ago will receive their cars before mid-2019. The production of the new TVR Griffith will start at the end of 2018, a plant in South Wales has been built from scratch (the construction of the new plant is scheduled for completion in late 2017 or early 2018).
Somehow everything is very complicated and uncertain with the new-old Griffith, but only for ordinary motorists. More enlightened motorists probably know that TVR stopped producing cars in 2007 after going under the control of many users in Smolensk in 2004. And only thanks to the British forest entrepreneurs, Edgar and John Case, bought in 2013 by TVR Motors, today we can see the new TVR Griffith, which took more than 3 years to create.
It is worth noting that Les Edgar approached the revival of sports cars of the TVR brand very seriously, using the services of Gordon Murray design, which is headed by ex-chief designer of the McLaren Formula 1 racing team Gordon Murray (Gordon Murray) and Cosworth. So the new TVR Griffith has a number of innovative solutions:
- First, the superbly shaped body has a torsional stiffness of 20,000 Nm/deg (uses iStream carbon technology – models based on a tubular space frame are made from steel, aluminum and carbon fiber).
- Second, the outer wall of the carbon fiber body panel.
- Third, the completely flat bottom, which allows for high performance aerodynamics (the compact exhaust system is located behind the front wheel arches).
- Fourth, the perfect 50:50 weight distribution and modest curb weight of the car – 1250 kg.
- Fifthly, the engine is a gasoline naturally aspirated V8 5.0 Coyote ti-VKT engine from Ford Mustang modified by Cosworth minders, with (specific power of more than 405 horsepower per ton of car weight) and a 6-speed “Tremec mechanics with Magnum XL.
- Sixth, a fully independent suspension (double wishbones for each wheel), supplemented by adaptive dampers, disc brakes (front with 370 mm discs and 6 calipers, rear with 350 mm discs and 4 piston calipers), electric power steering.
- Seventh, 19-inch rims on the front axle with low-profile tires 235/35 R19 and 20-inch rear wheels with tires 275/30 R20 for.
On the outside, the body of the British front-engined, rear-wheel-drive two-door coupe is pretty brutal, predatory and aggressive. All body panels, hood, front and rear bumpers, roof and lid surmounted by a huge spoiler have been created with an eye to ensuring minimum aerodynamic air resistance and proper distribution of air flows on the vehicle when driving at high speed (more than 300 km / h).
So there are huge air intakes, a splitter in the front bumper and a diffuser in the rear bumper, powerful gills in the front fenders, door sills with heavy exhaust tips located behind the front wheel arches, the original relief of the hood and doors.
The creators of new and modern features have not forgotten, such as full LED headlights and side lights with LED content.
- The external dimensions of the body of the new coupe TVR Griffith 2018-2019 are 4314 mm long, 1850 mm (including rear-view mirrors in 2016 mm) wide, 1239 mm high and have a wheelbase of 2600 mm and 136 mm ground clearance.
- Front track – 1599 mm, rear track – 1557 mm.
Double British sedan coupe TVR Griffith meets the driver and his companion sports seats with a high back and strong lateral support. The interior of the sports car is made in the style of minimalism, but there is modern equipment and high-quality materials.
There's real leather and nappa leather, a sports steering wheel trimmed with rims, a digital instrument cluster, climate control, deliberately large buttons to activate Sport modes… what else when the driver just has to focus on keeping the evil of a 500-horsepower rear-wheel drive sports car at bay. Of the electronic assistants, by the way, only ABS, a switchable ESP, a programmable launch control system and adaptive shock absorbers with adjustable stiffness. There are only two frontal airbags for the driver and passenger.

Under the hood, two-door coupes are registered with a naturally aspirated 5.0-liter Cosworth V8 engine with more than 500 horsepower, paired with a 6-speed. Tremec manual transmission with Magnum XL, capable of digesting 700 Nm of torque. According to the manufacturer, the coupe accelerates from 0 to 100 km / h in less than 4 seconds and reaches a top speed of over 322 km / h.
I wonder how many kilometers will be enough for 60 liters of fuel, what can fit in the gas tank of a British coupe?
